I admire your sense of adventure, but that doesn't look like the project to be tackled by a weekend warrior(sorry no disrespect, but I've been wearing my "mule bags" for over 20yrs now)or anybody that doesn't plan on sinking a boat load of$$$ into it. Don't get me wrong I love to see old structures restored, but you better really look into the conviction of money and time it will take ![2 cents :2cents:](./images/smilies/icon_2cents.gif)

Good day Dan,
I absolutely love the look of that house; congratulations! It may be a major long-term investment to get it looking new again, but you have to live somewhere. It may as well be in a place that has genuine character, which this house has--in undeniable abundance.
It's fascinating to look at a place like that and imagine all the people that passed through it over the years, and all the times it went through.

Re: we got a contract on the house we are trying to buy!
Thanks everyone for the advice and support. Most of the house is in very good shape for it's age. The interior is very original as well. I was happy to see the neighbors house had already been repaired. A large branch fell on the porch and destroyed one of the rock pillars holding up that corner of the porch. The pillar, porch and roof look like new and a man was cutting up what's left of that big old tree with a chainsaw. I think the neighborhood association will be pleased once they see some progress. Some of which will just be cosmetic at first although I am working on a plan to get some of the major structural stuff done as well. The foundation and the roof are two major issues obviously. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Yes. I went there today and met with the Realtor and a contractor who specializes in foundations. He said our house was solid and had a nice big crawl space. I need to get some more bids though.jzjames wrote:Great house, go for it.

BTW look what is in the driveway:
