All delete plates for bumps I've seen are plastic. I have never seen one for our trucks that was metal. The injection would definately be nice, I'm just a freak over a Holley on an old truck like these. Something very cool about a carbed truck especially in the summer when it is nice and warm, and not choke weather! They have that smell that says it aint injected. But, the fuel injection is definately more user friendly. Good luck.

guys my truck has been down for awhile with a pump issue and have not been focused on any thing but that. My question is I have bought a set of nice large fomoco westcoast mirrors and I need to find some rubber mounts for the sheet metal and new round plastic bushings that go behind the clamps. I will put this in the wanted section also but it doesn't hurt to be seen.

I'm in the Paris area about 30 minutes from the Oklahoma border. I have not been as exited as I am today because every thing is done to pass the inspection. The only reason that they would not pass it is due to not having a muffler. I have been building this truck for three years and am ready to drive it. Just need to change my gears out to be more drivable. I always wanted to get a crewcab to put a diesel in but I have never seen one around my area. They seem to be giving them away on ebay right now for nice drivers. If I had half the money I put in this truck I would buy a nice one now!

Can't wait for more Greg. I lucked out on my crew cab, bought it from my brother, right time right place I guess. I also have a replacement cab in my garage with the frame section still underneath it. I have been around just not posting much rjewks, I need to take some pics and start a project update thread myself..

No doubt? Im only an hour or so from you. Im in Paris all the time. My brother is the store manager at the Paris Home Depot.
Im going to keep my eyes peeled for your rig next time I come down!!

It looks like you cut down a 6BT exhaust manifold. Did you use inconel rod or was it brazed? Cast iron is a PITA to weld....

papabug71 I worked at the Paris home depot for nearly 6 years and your brother fired me for stupid mistake on my part. Best thing that has ever happened to me!! The job stressed me so bad that I had high blood pressure and kidney problems. I went week to week with different work schedules and never had time to work on any of my trucks or be with my family. I was blessed with getting a job with a bunch of my highschool friends and doing guardrail and signs for txdot as a subcontractor. Our boss is a GOOD church going guy that takes care of us in every way. We get paid for every day if we only work one hour that week. I was in the hospital for three weeks and the guys carried a check to my house every week to give to my wife. I will quit rambling about how good I got it now. Let me know when your down this way and you can check out my truck. Oh and the manifold was brazed on the two ends. Greg

Most modern diesel stuff is much higher quality iron thas gas stuff. These exhaust manifolds can be welded with nearly anything. I just use regular 70 series mig wire. I think braze is fine for a mild engine, but for high drive pressures I'd try something stronger. These manifolds can see pretty high exhaust pressures.

I like the truck Greg. Hope you get out and put some miles on that thing soon.

I hope to be driving by Saturday! I am waiting on a couple of 2.75" v band clamps for my downpipe. When the exhaust shop built my downpipe, the clamp wasn't tight and I think it let there be a little play in there. When I tighten the v clamp down there seems to be a little leak at the bottom. It seems to be impossible to find a good American made clamp in the size I need and I want to put some torque on it.

well I have not been on here in a while and I figured I would let yall know I am pulling 4bt and going back to a ford engine. I got sick of the smoke and tinkered with my pump and have a pin messed up now in pump. I have spent nearly $1500 in my pump in two different times to the shop and I said no more this time. I can work on a v8 but not so much the diesel! I have loved the power for what economy I was getting but whole drive train is coming out and up for sell. I went to the engine shop today and got setup for a 289 to be built up later in the next month. My very first ford I had was a f100 302 4speed with 4.11s. This time it will be a 289 comp 280 cam with flattop pistons and 66 model heads. Should be around 10 to 1 going this route. I have some 5.0 manifolds and a offenhouser 4 barrel and am looking for a good autolite 4100. I hope to get 10-12mpg with this setup as my original 302 setup got 11mpg. With my gears and the 32" tires it will put me at 3000rpm at 70 if I dont put the gearvendor in. If any body is interested in my drivetrain I have it for sale for $4500. For any of the ford guys on here I will give my driveshaft that I had built and it would make it a drop in deal except for the stands. I welded in some basically flat stands for the factory fluid mounts to set on. any ways I will get some pics of my tear down and build of the v8.
