Saw this and thought some might be interested in this conversion. Sounds like it is bolt up HID for our trucks also.

i looked on ebay but i couldn't see a picture of the backs of them. they have some sort of tabs around the back. so its hard to tell if they will fit in our headlight buckets. or mount to our grilles.

$108.00 each x 2 = 216.00 + 16 per connector = 32.00 total 248.00 + tax for 2 headlights there is no way i would buy these for that. price.

definitelly 8) cool looking but not HID at all. they are prismatic composite units that use 9008 bulbs wich are halogen, they would need harness upgrade to handle the wattage. they also would require some thinkering to atach to the headlamp adjusting screws because they wont fit in the buckets. i checked my catalog and TYC 20-6835-00 list for 90.00 of course you can always add aftermarket HID to them at 120.00 plus. i think its not worth it :hmm: . but then again they look very cool.
this picture shows the back of the unit.

hey just the upgrade in the harness like the ones in most catologs and the one paul(390nut) made a few yrs back will bring a full 12 volts to the headlights and the sealed beams end up realy bright.

Somebody brought up that jeeps had 7' round hid headlights somewhere a while ago and I stored it in the back of my had head for the right time. Just remember you need a ballast for HID lights. At some point when I put on one of my other grilles I will probably think hard about them, even halogens with a good wiring harness are no match for the HIDs.

As I stated before, beware of these knockoff HIDs... I too considered them and after a ton of research, it isn't worth it.

First if the parts don't cost over $300, you are getting chinese fakes... Then there is the whole motor assy that allows for beam adjustment from high to low, the wiring needs to be changed out and not with LMC chinese crap wire...

Sure these lights probably put out a lot of brightness, but they don't focus the light where you need it to see where you are going. (not where you are!)

Save your money and find some H4 Cibie E code lenses (~$75 ea)... they are the most focused and best designed lamps for 7" rounds on the market any more... Then buy some Narva +50s ($20 ea, get 4) and you will have all the light you can handle and will never worry if a bulb burns out! Bulbs matter less than the reflector and lense!

Non OEM HIDs=Sawed off Shotgun / Good E code H4s=Weatherby Rifle! (power and accuracy!)

The Europeans have MUCH higher standards for headlights than the US, one of the requirements for me to bring my truck to Europe, is that I change out the headlights!
