Same with Towing, if one operator/company husstle the use of extra/unnessessary equipment to spike the price up it is seen that all do it.AlleyCat wrote:Steve it's not only the rip off thing that's bad but it's also how John Q. Public views mechanics in general. Most people who enter the trade do so because they actually enjoy repairing vehicles and take pride in their work. From an apprentice tech like yourself who is just beginning a career to a journeyman like me with decades of experience most of us strive to deliver top notch work at a fair price. The problem is when a rip off shop gets exposed it usually gets lots of attention from the media. John Q. reads or hears this stuff then often jumps to the conclusion that if one shop or tech is a rip off artist then all shops and techs are alike.
Oh how familiar that is. Of course some towing outfits use unnecessary equipment because they lack competent operaters that know how to get the most out of each rig they drive.rjewkes wrote:Same with Towing, if one operator/company husstle the use of extra/unnessessary equipment to spike the price up it is seen that all do it.AlleyCat wrote:Steve it's not only the rip off thing that's bad but it's also how John Q. I happened to look at the window sticker of a Honda Pilot while I was in the dealer buying the wiper blades. Want to take a guess about the final assembly point, engine and transmission origins?Oh, I know the line "my Toyota was made in a plant in Michigan".Maybe so, but the profits still go to a Japanese bank.
Ain't it the truth, it has gotten to the so bad that for most stuff IF I can get it at the dealer I do get it at the dealer.AlleyCat wrote:...The right side was original. To me the extra $$ was well worth it if I can get another 156k miles out of them.
