Oops

Post by Mancar1 »

Yesterday at the cemetery I had parked the backhoe trailer in a different place than usual. Work was over and I was heading home. Backing up, and you guessed it, BAM, I backed into the darn thing. Thank goodness I have a heavy duty knock a Chevy over bumper. All I got out of it was the vertical driver-side piece of chrome on the tailgate bent.
Got home and fixed it so so. Somewhat upset, those pieces don't grow on trees. But hey it was my own fault and no one else's.

Sorry man, that always sucks regardless of the damage. I remember when Fordman destroyed his tailgate backing to a tree stump I think it was  There's a picture of it on here somewhere...

I found it. Sorry Fordman, but I have to post it  . My favorite part of it:
fordman wrote:it was kind of slick out in the mud today . i almost got stuck again. i backed up and ran into a small tree. i cut the tree down after this happened. the tailgate was rusted out badly. so that is why it made so much damage to it. i had the truck loaded and couldn't put the tailgate up. i have another old rusty tailgate i can ptu back on it. does anyone want this one to fix up?

I can relate. I had painted my 71 F100 about 6 months earlier. New grill and head light doors. Was pulling into my shop and did not see the end of the radius arm sticking up towards me and it hit my left head light door. OUCH! Really hurt my feelings

i have dented a tail gate or two and scraped up License Plates trying to bring trailers the last 5-6 inches and getting them going too fast. i once even miss judged a uhaul trailer when my distributor gev up 95% of the ghost and didn't have a come along or money for one either, was driving it on at a steady creep and on the passenger side it had the light mounted just a hair higher than the other side.

well it was built into the frame pretty good and twisted that bumper down and to the back a bit. That was more emberassing than anything else.

Ok, guess I will tell on myself for dumb things again. I had only had my shinny new 06 F-150 XLT for a few days when I hooked my utility trailer up for a run to Home Depot. :drive: Crossed the tracks and my trailer looked a little to low as I glanced in the mirror. Right, I forgot to clamp the receptacle down on the ball  Trailer bounced off and I tried to time my stop right, but as the tongue slid under my truck and the trailer came to a stop, the winch mount stuck out just a wee bit to much and kissed my tailgate. :cuss: Small ding, and $495. later you couldn't tell it happened.
Since this happened I have cut the winch mount flush with the winch so the riser will hit my bumper before the winch mount can hit Mr. Tailgate :D Not that I would do that again
