Need any help anyone can offer-spilling my guts.

Post by 390Nut »

Time to spill my guts. I know most men wouldn't do this, but I have learned the hard way that sometimes you have to swallow your pride, and allow yourself to be humbled.

I have a major upheaval going on at the moment on the home front, and I am going to be stuck paying past due bills by myself. I've been unemployed since march, and while money has been tight, we've had enough to get by. Until now. As some of you may have noticed, I dropped the price on my harnesses. That was to get extra money coming in so we were not so tight. AS I mentioned in some of my for sale threads, my camera (Canon Rebel XSi, about $700 new) is in the pawn shop. Along with a bunch of my tools, and a big flat screen TV I bought on my Sears card for the sole purpose of taking it to the pawn shop so I could get money to pay Septembers rent. Long story short, the other half doesn't like being a "half" of the relationship, and doesn't like to make sacrifices, and now I (and especially my son) are suffering for it.

No I am not asking for donations, or loans, or anything like that, but if you need any of the parts I have listed, PLEASE make me an offer. Dont insult me though, just because I am in need. This is hurting enough as it is.

Also, if anyone is interested, I still have some harnesses left (selling some as you read this). I ONLY HAVE TWO LEFT. Response has been overwhelming, thank you!!

I know times are tight for everyone. I know that all to well. But please don't take this like I am asking for a hand out, because that is the last thing I would want to do.

Hey Paul, that really stinks. I realized several years ago that after the kids were hatched that my SHMBO wasn't going to end up with a decent career. Had to refigure my life and just decide to do without as much as I could. Did the refi on the house to kill all the card debt I used to start fixing it up and just work as hard as I can to stay afloat. Now with a 14yo and an 8yo and a family that still intact it was worth it. Took some real hard talking and figuring with the checkbook to see what it was going to take for all of us to stay together.

The wife does the financials now and I keep an eye on it, helps with the reality check...

I just started working on the mill again (it's running as I type), took the summer off to build up my little aluminum boat ( http://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8385 ) so I had something fun to do with the kids.

Seems you have a profitable business if you would expand it to fit other cars and market it on eBay and other sites. $100 a month coming in makes life easier...

Good luck,
Jamie

I hope it all starts working out for you soon. I just sold my 68 F100 a few days ago or I would buy one. I know a few guys running these trucks up here, I'll ask around.

I wonder if these would plug & play in the 73-79 trucks. Do you know if they will work?

Thanks Jamie, but there is no making it work with this one. Been trying for two years, and the selfishness keeps getting worse every day. Was thinking about expanding to other makes/models and such, but it is time consuming, takes a lot of space to lay it all out while building (which I currently dont have) and takes investment to get rolling again after a batch. Right now every penny has been going to bills and such, and quite frankly we make MORE than enough to cover all the bills/groceries/gas and stuff for the baby as well, with money left over. Problem is she likes to spend money and refuses to stop.

So yeah, I'll make it on my own somehow, I always have. There are other issues involved with this that make it even more difficult, though, and that is where my thoughts are right now.

AK F100: I BELIEVE that they are, but I am not 100% sure. I think someone fitted one to a dent somewhere along the line. The biggest issue would be the splitter (where the drivers side leaves the harness to across the radiator support).

AS long as there are holes in the core support close to those on the 67-72's, it should work just fine.

It'll be a week or so, but I'll take two of the harnesses. I'll shoot you a PM when ready. The truck is a 74 F100 sitting on 79 F250 axles and is still in the building stage, so I'm sure I can make it work. Being that the 74 will be my winter rig, having good headlights will help out for the dark Alaskan winters.

Thanks binder, and everyone else too. The harnesses seem to be going fast, so I dont know if I'll be able to sell them off to one person.

i do appreciate it, guys. And so does my boy. I might not be getting full custody, but this is the only home he has ever known, and for the time being I want to keep it for him, to have a comfortable place to come to until things settle down again.

I Can Vouch that the core support on the 73-79 have similair holes, when i swapped in the 390 almost two years ago, i found my original 72 support was rusted to heck, replaced it with a 73-79 support and it even has more places to zipptie or even screw in those little rubber covered wire hangers like the factory used on the fenders.
