I already found out that my F-250 and F-100 both use the same rear u-joint, but can I swap the axles between the two trucks? I figure that I'd need to use the u-bolt plates from the F-100, but is there anything I'm missing? Are the springs the same distance apart?
BTW, I want to use the 9" because it's a different ratio.
Replacing D60 with a 9"

It should be a bolt-in, aside from needing a slightly-longer driveshaft. You realize that your truck will also end up having different wheel bolt patterns on the front and rear?

heh....well, it's packaged up and ready to slap a mailing label on it....but I keep forgetting to contact you about it. Sorry. PM me your shipping address again and I'll get it out, along with a few other things for forum members that I keep forgetting about.

I'm not too concerned with weight, I have loaded the truck with about 1700 lbs before, but it's really just a daily driver.
I'm just toying with different things, I have the 9" here in my parts truck, but if you have a low 3.0 range D60, I'll trade you for it
Do you have any later D60 full floaters?

I don't have anything later style. I'll have to check what the CS (trailer) has for gears. And I just got a '65 f250. I'll have to see what it has under it for gears.
For the right amount, I might be convinced to let my tru-trac'ed 3.89 geared D-60 from my wrecker go. but its made of gold.

In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!
Ok, I'm doing this swap in thext two weeks and I just want to make sure I have everything I need. So far, the list from the donor truck includes:
Axle (no brainer there)
Rear half of driveshaft
Spring plates
parking brake cables
New u-bolts
New brake hose
The parts I can re-use from the current truck-
springs
shocks
front half of driveshaft
Anything I am missing?
Eventually, I am going to do a disk brake conversion on the front with F-100 parts, so the pattern will eventually be the same. Until then, I don't really care about the difference.
