Well you guys might enjoy this pic then from a different post on my truck, here in my town our local fire department has one too, I couldn't resist sneaking my 67 shortbox next to it for a quick shot!

Also, from '58-'60, the cabs had twin headlights...My dad drove them all thru the sixty's, his boss would lease a new one every year....Those cabs were awesome, visibility was incredible, and with the cabovers having a shorter wheelbase, they were great for maneuvering around the back alleys and docks in Chicago...The windshield was big enough to give you an ocean view...When I'd tag along with him as a kid, he'd scare the crap out of me, ..., lighting a Chesterfield, downshifting, sipping coffee and whipping around corners, ...missing cars and brick buildings by inches...AlleyCat wrote:If somebody happens to spot one that says MACK above the grille don't assume somebody had some extra emblems and too much time on their hands. Mack trucks used the same cab on their "N" models in the eary 60's. Canadian fire truck builder Pierre Thibault and Walter Truck company also used this cab on some of their rigs.

There is a 72 for sale right near me. If I had the cash and the space, I'd make an offer on it.

Re: is this a bumpside?
There's a '62 Mercury C700 lurking in the background here...

and there was also a '65 Merc C cab that sat on a farm in the area here until it suddenly disappeared a couple of years ago. Joe, you beat me to that mention of the four-eyed trucks
I've got pics of them here somewhere in an early sixties Ford Clues magazine. Revell made an HO scale kit of the four headlight C-cab back in the early sixties and AMT has a couple of 1/25 scale kits that get reissued every few years.

That is a great pic...That bald spot where the Merc pickup might have been looks like a good spot to put a picnic table, a cooler, and tell a few stories...

Becuase in Canada Mercury was the only ford offering for a very long time, until about 68 or so.

Ah. Thank you. Interesting bit of automotive history.
They should teach stuff like that in school...
We just learned how to change oil and tires

Re: is this a bumpside?
The Merc wasn't actually the only Ford offering here, Robert. They began marketing the Merc truck for the Lincoln/Mercury dealer network in Canada in 1946 and the Ford trucks were sold at the Ford dealers. These trucks were built side by side only at Oakville til about '66, when they shifted some of the Merc production to the San Jose plant for the final couple of years of production.

Cool pic, Mike...The other neat thing about those earlier versions is many seemed to have the factory two-toned paint...And that big white steering wheel...
