1971 short wide (shortstack)
I've been working on this truck for about 6 years now. It was originally a 302 three on the tree custom that my grandpa bought new Oct. 71. I got it in 1998 when he finally bought a new truck. I drove it around for a while until I decided to remove the engine for a rebuild. Instead I got further and further into it until it was a full blown frame off job. I have some pics in my gallery but am searching for original pics. I think this is the best site I have ever been on and look forward to your comments, good or bad.

, That's a beautiful truck! I bet your grandfather is happy to see the old truck getting a new lease on life. Like BiggDogg said the color looks great, I really like the way it looks. Can't wait to see some more pictures of your truck man, and welcome to the site, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

update 9/30
Well I have been getting busy in my spare time, trying to get things all buttoned up. I finished up rebuilding my rear drums, front discs (76 doner). I have nearly got the cab all covered with dynamat, except where I have to hack up the floor for trans. clearance. I Installed my electric fan and started looking at the painless harness.

I know right where Corsicana is. I grew up in Teague and still have family there, so I drive through Corsicana on my way to visit. You work just down the road from my house in Richardson.

my 69 ranger parts truck came with a removable hump cover. it just bolts on to clear the c6 auto tranny. thats what you need for the extra clearance right? of course you will have to cut the existing tunnel out but you should be good to goshortstack wrote:

Set the cover in place, mark the mounting holes, drill the holes, cut the large hole out of the hump, add the threaded clips and bolt her down. Just like that and he'll have a factory looking installation.

You do not have to change the hump. The C6 will fit with about 1" to 1 1/2" clearance and work fine. But If you think you must have "extra clearance" then by all means get to cuttin' . There is already a hole in the hump and I thought he was just wanting to clean it up a bit. In his first post, he stated "It was originally a 302 three on the tree custom". Myself, I'd rather have the low hump than the extra clearance between the trans and cab-floor. It's more comfortable for the wife.
