If you was to bag this set up do you think it would come close to laying frame? Also, do you think the tie rods would be able to handle it?

Not without notching the frame or moving the brackets inward. I would like install it as I already have it.

Not sure how low it would be if it were bagged. I removed the springs once and let it down but the sway bar kept it from going really low.

ok just picked up an explorer rear yesterday, hope to get a new to me frame tomorrow. ok dont want to clutter up your thread. I plan on a c notch so i'll see how it works out. I also got the swaybar and lower shock mounts with the rear.

I am also doing a CV IFS into my 1970. Just out of curiousity what is the distance from the bottom of your front fenders to the ground? I have 12 1/2" with 17" wheels & a 302. I am doing the Thunderbird IRS out back. A note I wanted to add is additional costs. I paid $250.00 for the IFS. If possible get the frame sections that house the spacers. They can then be cut and utilized almost as Ford used them in the CV or you can drill the upper hole larger and weld the entire unit in. 3/4" drill bit - $26.00. For whatever reason the left brake hose and bolt is missing on every one of these units I find around here. This are a Ford only parts. The U Joints for the steering column are weighing in at $80.00 each. Both adapters for brake lines $10.00 With an initial expense of $250.00 I am currently at just over $400.00 for the install with what looks like roughly $300 - $400 yet to go. Not a bad overall investment for the front suspension when compared to the Mustang II kits.

The steering shaft is what's killing me. Roughly $200.00 when I only paid $250.00 for the entire unit! Still no complaints. Am hoping to be able to drive here in the next couple weeks. Only able to work on it in spare time in the evenings. How does your truck drive/handle/ride after the swap? My unit came out of a 2005 Police Interceptor.

Not sure on the measurements from fenders to the ground, havent been around the truck lately. Front end drives great and feels good to get into tight spaces without having to muscle the steering wheel back and forth.

so...just how many inches did you take out of the frame?
i seen that type of a cut made on Trucks. Good job I've been doing that type of work for 25 years
and could've done better.

Took out 16" inches and I think about 4" behind the rear wheels... and did you mean "could've or couldn't" :) Looking at your handle I wont consider this truck complete until it has a 514 or bigger stroker. :thup:

20x8.5 in the front and 20x10s in the back. 245/40 and 275/40s

Have you had achance to see how it rides yet? I have cut springs in my 37 ford with a mustang II frontend and its a little stiff. Eaton has just come out with lowering springs for the crown vic http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/cc ... index.html

from the few miles Ive put on it it rides very well, doesnt feel stiff at all, I've even got it up to 90+mph and it feels smooth, not only that but it stops real good. straight too.

Thanks for the link to the springs! I am currently 12 1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the front fenders. I think a pair of 1 1/2" drop springs would fit the bill nicely. Gotta finish my install first but they are first on the list when done. The sights are then set on the IRS install. I want suspension finished along with a fresh 460 before Pigeon Forge next year. Hoping to drive it down & check out all the nice trucks.
