More jobs

Post by OldRedFord »

Well lawn mowing has pretty much stopped for the year. Now I am doing a few "fall clean ups."

Also doing construction work on the side under a buddy of mine.

So the first pictures are of a house we were working on in a part of town in Atlanta called Buckhead. High end area. On the street the house we were working on is a house for sale for $5,900,000. The house were painting is one of the last original houses on the street. All we are doing is painting the front middle section.

First picture is of the shutters I painted. I wanted to lay them out in the basement to dry but boss man said that I would be walking back and forth too much. So then I spent time picking fallen leaves off the wet paint.

Second is the front of the house.

Now for the back yard cleanup I am doing. This is for some friends of my parents.

I was supposed to start today but they were not ready for me. They had a above ground pool in the back yard at one time with a deck. All that is gone now except for the 30 or so concrete blocks that had supported the deck.

The blocks were supposed to be moved out of my way but that didnt get done in time so I am pushed back till tomorrow. I did manage to get over there yesterday and get a head start.

Cut the two foot high grass down and cut down all the bamboo along the back fence.

Only thing I hate about this job is I only have access to the back yard via a 36" gate or through the back of the garage. I wish I could either back my trailer right up to the gate or into the garage but there are either trees or a dumpster in my way.

Now for pictures.

#1 looking twards the back of the house. In the front corner that all needs to be cut down but there is a bees nest I believe to be in there somewhere. Id wager a big bet that they are in the old wood pile hidden in that corner. Not too sure how to handle this.

#2,3 The right hand corner of the back yard. The sandy patch is where the pool was. The tall overgrown stuff would have been where the deck was.

#4 Over all shot.

So today I went and picked up all the bamboo I had cut down.

#1 Bamboo all loaded up. If you look close you can see that the passenger side of the gate of my trailer is not pinned. More on that later.

So I went out and wanted a to rent a small chipper to grind up all the bamboo. I got one and when they guy at the rental place was showing me how to run it, the belt on it broke. So I ended up with a 45 hp diesel chipper.

#2 Chipper and pile of clippings. Im going to spread it all out somewhere. Not sure where yet.

My dad wondered if I had bought it. I should have lead him on.

Now as far as the un pinned side of the gate on the trailer. I backed into something, not real sure what at this point but I think a tree. But the bracket for the pin is bent all to hell and I cant latch it on that side. Didnt notice it till I unloaded the bamboo.
