Official junkyard score thread!

Post by 1971ford »

We have a lot of these threads so lets pile them all into one official junkyard score thread
Went to the junkyard today after I scoped it out 2 days ago. at least 10 bumps there. I grabbed a full carpet and firweall cover that were both in good condition, along with a hood hinge that was brand new (had ford dealer sticker on it), a spotlight mount for my spotlight, a few nuts/bolts, wiper squirters, some wiring...

all for $23. Beats the $200+ for carpet/firewall cover new.

Also there is a perfect black dash pad there (ranch cordova pick n pull) along with 2 factory a/c setups and a neat dealer a/c setup. I didn't grab it because i didn't feel like pulling it. But damn, i might grab it when i go back if its still there.

Man that's great Ryan. Whenever I go to junkyards around here, if there happens to be any bumps (usually there aren't any), there are typically missing most of the good stuff already

yeah I'm lucky that i am surrounded by bumps to get parts from. It all depends on who you get at the counter too though. The lady today was awesome. She let me have the wiper squirters, and spotlight mount for free, and she asked if the carpet was less or more than 3 square feet. I said, I don't know, it's close (although it's way over) and she put it down for under 3sq feet. I rapped the firewall carpet in the floor carpet and she put it all as floor carpet.
But sometimes you'll practically get "oh that hood hinge has rivets, those are an extra $10" lol
or how about "there's probably some power steering fluid in that pump that's 20 bucks" lol

Ya dude I'll go get the issue and if I can get the other computer working I'll scan it. Its a small picture towards the back of your truck stuck during one of your races.

its a long story, here is the cliffnotes. It is owned by a bipolar woman who is crazy. her boyfriend is usually there because he is a people person. If he stays it may work but he is tired of her bs. When he leaves it will fall apart because she is a complete "female dog" lol. I have got a lot of great deals from him. It is to the point if I see something small i want he will give it to me. i got a free set of 292 angle plug castings from the dumpster a couple days ago.

I hate to see them close. The ones around me that have closed were caused be either the owner retired and couldn't find a buyer or they were forced to close by zoning changes. :(

Hey guys, in your scavaging efforts, needing 3 things. Headlight doors for 67 aluminum grille. Headliner trim for 67 custom cab., dash pad. Mine is MIA. In Indiana the lots will not let you LOOK for the parts you want on need, as they do out west and same as above, most yards here are 90's or newer. Don't see many bumps around here that often, you do see a few more dents tho. Indiana is like chevy city I think.... Oh damn, think I just puked in my mouth. At work most RV's are ford chassis's, but every damn truck the shop has but 2 are chevys and we have like 8 of them. The two odd balls, are an Old International, bout a 64, and a 90's Ford diesel, 7.3 lt, 4 dr, SB. Runs good but one funny looking short truck, oh and its a stick.

this place has only been in business for a few months. It is a metal recyling yard not an auto salvage place. I will be getting a sbc out of an armored car next week for free. I was hoping it was a bbc when I first saw it lol
