Got My Driving Permit Today!

Post by Caseys71 »

:woohoo:, Just figured I'd share that my dad took me to the DMV today to get my learner's permit, passed the signs and the written test with flying colors :D. Drove back home, and to the store 4 times today. Another year and I get my license :hd:.

:P, Thanks! Yea I can't wait for the big one, I'm hoping to start working on the bump a bit harder. I'll probably finish the suspension work and chassis and put the body back on so I can drive it a bit on my permit and get a feel for any other things I need to change before I get my license.

Thanks David, and Ouch on the speeding ticket that's the reason I don't plan on getting a 'stang until around the time I graduate insurance is high enough when you're 16 add a few speeding tickets and I'd really be in trouble. Don't think I've gotta worry about speeding in the bump though .

, There's a lot more of us younger guys on here now! And thanks Ryan I definitely can't wait for that day as of right now that day is 364 days away.

Thanks Jeremy! You even have to get a permit in KY? I know a lot of states don't require one. Adding another bump to the driving fleet is always nice! Hopefully I can drive mine a little bit before I get my license.

364 days?
In CA once you get your permit it's only 6 months until you get your license. One more whole year? that's lame

TX is driver's ed at 15-17. 6 months of permit before license- if 15, then it's until your 16.
Or, take the test at 18 and bypass driver's ed. Vertical license till 21- then horizontal.

The TX permits are paper too ;)

Yea, I'll be counting them down 1 by 1. Lucky you, NC used to be 6 months on your permit or 16 before you got your license but they changed that a few years back .
1982 flareside wrote:yeah permit then intermediate then full lisense
Oh, gotcha. I wasn't sure I know some states don't require anything, that's the same way NC is set up but didn't you say you got your license at 17 in KY?

That's similar to NC except it's a full year of your learners before you get your (limited) license, then 6 months(I believe could be 1 year) of your limited license, then full license. Basically in NC it is hard to get your license at 16 because you'd have to get your permit on your 15th birthday which would be the first day you'd be eligible for a permit but it's hard to get into Driver's Ed unless you are 15 or really close at least at my school. That and we get plastic permits rather than paper. NC is doing the vertical licenses and permits until 21 as well.
