Re: Why 67 -72?
I learned to drive in a 69 F250 Camper Special. I loved that truck and was horribly sad when Granddad got rid of it for an 85 Dodge D150. I had a '85 Chevy SWB completely restored and someone decided to permanently borrow it and when the cops finally found it I was left with a cab and frame, full coverage insurance paid me, sort of, for it and I moped around for a while looking for something else. A fellow church member let me know that he was about to sell his '72 F100 Custom and I jumped at it ($1500). It's the same color as the one I learned to drive on and someone will have to steal it to get it out of the family. My children are learning to drive it and the '69 flareside that I just bought for my son and I to work on. I hope that they pass them on to their children when the time comes. These trucks are built to last and look awesome.

Re: Why 67 -72?
The first truck I ever bought was a 68 bump, while in the service. i loved that truck and the memories more than anything.
Broke my heart the day I wrecked it, but I took out 3 imports and a chevy that day! With all 4 tires smoken trying to stop!
The bump could have been fixed, but I was young and ignorant and didn't realize that meaning of that truck to me until now
in my forties. HAVE never owned another until now. My project 67 f100.... And I will die first trying to put it back together
and making it my 2 ND truck ever, in the over 25 yrs of driving. And I have owned atleast 12 cars in my life, nothing ever compared
to the feeling it gave me driving, 2 nd favorite would be my 68 Ford LTD, I bought for trading the trans and peddles out of my old
bump!.... Lordy, how much I miss that truck.... I will make a new daily driver....

Re: Why 67 -72?
Thanks for the stories - keep em coming. I love my truck too even though I can barely afford to put gas in it to drive it. I still won't sell it. It reminds me so much of my highschool days working with my grandpa - he had a 68 F100 Flatbed. When I look out over that big blue hood I feel like I'm sitting there with grandpa. For an od truck it feels very comfortable and just right to dive.

My 70' F250 2WD is New enough to benefit from factory niceties such as power steering, power brakes, A/C (if I wanted it) and Old enough to NOT require smog devices. I Love it's simplicity in design, rugged build, great body lines, ease of maintenance and the feeling of driving a real truck.
Being void of major plastic components is another plus I appreciate and value. I've always been a fan of the king pin version of Ford's twin I beam front suspension because of it's good ride and nearly indestructible nature...meaning NO BALL JOINTS! FE Engines..what can I say that hasn't already been said about these great Ford engines.
So, my truck has it all in my humble opinion. You'd have to pull my cold, dead hands off of it before I'd let it go! It's been over 20 years since I sold my 67' F100 2WD SWB Flareside. I've had other Ford Trucks in the mean time, but nothing can or will replace my Bump and I won't be without one again!
