Post by 69rangerf100 »

on my way home i got stopped by Cobb county PD. got nailed doing 65 in a 45. so i wont be doing any purchasing for the bump anytime soon because i have a feeling that the ticket is gonna be some where in the ball park of $300.

i should have been more careful here is what Cobb stands for Count On Being Busted

20 over the limit is considered negligent in most places, and they can nail you for more than $300 in a lot of those places. Hope they don't tap you to bad.

Good luck. If you where around my area you could work it off doing community service at the cemetery I manage. Check it out, maybe you can work it off there instead of paying$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Heck I would if I could.

Definitely find out if you can get it deferred. A lot of courts will do this, and as long as you don't get anymore tickets for x number of years, it wont appear on your driving record and your insurance wont go up. Might cost you more than the ticket however, as it sometimes does, but it is a matter of what you want out of the situation.

well i was doing some research this morning and i am lucky that i dont fall under this.

(JANUARY 1, 2010) Georgia drivers should mark that date on their calendars and put a sticky note next to their keys.. January 1st, 2010. It’s the day the new state ‘Super Speeder Law’ goes into effect in Georgia. And any high-risk drivers who make a habit of ignoring posted speed limits will be the first to feel the pinch of higher state fines (called fees) on their wallets.

How much higher? The new law titled HB160 tacks-on another two-hundred-dollar state-fee for any driver convicted of speeding at 75-or-more on any two-lane roads.. OR convicted of speeding at 85-and-over anywhere in Georgia. Those new state fees will be in addition to any local fines already in effect in the jurisdiction where the speeding offense occurs.

Who is a SuperSpeeder? Under the provisions of this new Georgia law, any driver convicted of violating HB160 will now be classified by the state as a ‘Super Speeder’ and subject to an additional fee. The new ‘SuperSpeeder Law’ is designed to get tough on high-risk drivers who’ve been endangering other motorists and ignoring warnings to slow down. On average, there’s a speed-related death-a-day in Georgia!

The ‘SuperSpeeder Law’ established the new state fees to help police put the brakes on Georgia’s dangerous and illegal speeders. Failure to pay the ‘SuperSpeeder’ fee results in an additional $50.00 fee and the suspension of the offender’s driving privileges and license. ‘SuperSpeeder’ is a highway safety law designed to save lives on our roads by changing the way illegal speeders drive in Georgia... by slowing them down within legal limits.

And these new fees will save lives another way. Fees collected under the new ‘SuperSpeeder Law’ will be used to help fund Georgia’s trauma care hospital system where approximately sixty-percent of all trauma-care-patients are crash-related. Now for the first time, ‘SuperSpeeders’ will help pay for the hospital beds where their crash-victims are being treated.

Let's see:

95 mph in a 70 in Virginia - that's worth about a $600 ticket plus a $700 reckless endangement charge. Ouch, wouldn't recommend it. I lived up in PA then and would have spent a lot of time and money chasing a trial so I hired a lawyer. Even after getting it bumped way down it was still a couple hundred dollars.

74 mph in a 55 in Georgia. $148. WHAT A DEAL! Speed all the time!

South Carolina - they don't seem to care about speeding outside of little tiny rural country towns and the interstates around Cola/Greenville/Charleston. I approve.

PA/OH/West Virginia - Hit or miss on patrol, except for turnpike and rt 19 in WV, tickets are about $200-$300 for most citations in my experience. 30 MPH over gets your car impounded, bummer.

I speed on back country roads in the middle of nowhere. I pass logging trucks occassionally. Generally, I won't see another car for the first 40 miles of my ridiculous daily commute. The only really stupid one was in Virginia, I earned that one. General statement: Better to speed in the Southeast than the North.

It's funny, because all my friends get tickets all the time. On average, I'll one for every 5 they get as a total. It may also have something to do with my uniform. I still get tickets, just not as often as others. Still,in CA, those fines can add up real quick. I've learned to not mash my foot down. :)

In NC if your doing 70+ in a 55 they can suspend your license .

Casey, ive been told that if your cought in NC driveing over 100mph your charged with attempted murder. Any truth to that ? Years ago i made a 325 mile trip to the speedway in just over 3 hours in the early morning hours and when i said something to people that lived in carolina all of them told me that same thing. I was very lucky that i didnt get cought.
