Did you go Turbo or Glasspack? If glasspacks are the way you went, what lengthdid you ues? Sorr for all the questions, but I am at the same cross-road for my daily driver.
360FE engine w/ stock manifolds (will most likely be headers at some point), manual transmission, 2-1/2" exhaust system (crush bent not mandrel bent), exiting to the sides behind the rear tires.
My dilemma, I want a classic truck sound, but not too loud because it is a daily driver and will see a bit of highway use also. I am torn between using 14" oval Magnaflow's, 18" oval Magnaflow's or 40" Thrush Glasspacks. I can get all three delivered to my door for close to the same price, it's just deciding on the sound I want.

I am in the EXACT same postion. I have a stock 360 FE with stock manifolds(might go to headers one day, maybe not), stock exhaust, and manual trans. I want to go to dual exhaust in the future and different mufflers. This thread has been very useful in gaining information and other people's opinions.

I used the long glasspacks. They make a decent sound, and I will tell you there is no drone at cruising spd. You can actually hold a conversation. I just want more of a deeper throaty sound.

Smithys and Porters are two "classic" sounding and well made "glasspacks" with the Porters not really being a glasspack at all, they use steelpack and a totally different inner design. They both sound great, but I don't think they are the sound I'm looking for for my Daily Driver. I just ordered a pair of 14" long Magnaflow ovals for my rig, we'll see if they sound the way I hope they do.

Ah I found them. I was typing in Smittys. Gave me theater info. I was thinking what the heck does that have to do with Ford Trucks. I'll watch my spelling closer. Thanks AK F100 I checked them out.
