:yt: 70_f100, I am very happy for you & your family. I know it has to be very hard on you, & very hard on your family also.
It is a blessing from God to have all the support that you have so graciously acknowleged.
I usually just lurk on here & learn so much from these wonderful people on here who give
their precious time & knowlege so freely & I thank them for that .
After seeing your post I just had to congratulate you.
I sincerely hope you have a very good career.
Best wishes & good luck. God bless you & your family. :fr:

Congratulations! Happy to hear that things worked out for you, it should be a nice change in pace for you to move into this new position which seems like it will probably be a bit less stressful. Good luck tomorrow, although it doesn't sound like you will need it .

Congratulations on the new job. I was unemployed for 8 months and it really screws with you mentally.

MAN, what a first day!!! :woohoo: A lot of the time was spent with getting all of the usual HR paperwork done, but I did get to at least do a walk-around inspection of the facility, and to look at the regulatory reporting. :?

From what I was told, the last two guys who had this job did JUST ENOUGH to get by. NOT GOOD!! Remember, we're dealing with the EPA and OSHA compliance here.

Just a one-hour tour of the facility showed me more than 50 violations!!!

It's going to be an uphill battle, guys, but by the end of the week, they're going to know that "Ol' Dick" (as my son and his friends like to call me :D ) has been there. Management has already been told that there's at least a 200K capital investment that's going to be necessary to get things back up to par, and I've been told that I have their full support.

It looks like I've found a chance to make some MAJOR improvements and save the company a ton of money, and I'm looking forward to the challenge!! :D

Thanks again, everyone, for your words of encouragement!! Just knowing that I have somewhere like this forum to share my excitement means more to me than any of you can ever imagine!!

Thanks 70_F100 for the link to the shifter. I appreciate all you've taught me so far. I'm happy for you and your family. I will continue to pray for you and the new job and the changes that need to be made.

When God closes a door, he opens a window! Great news! In 1994 I got a divorce from my 1st wife, 1996 from 2nd wife and was sleeping in my car and in 1997 I got fired from my job of 7 years, management position, and thought it was the end of the world. Nearly lost everything! Got a new job and I've been there for 13 years and counting making 50% more than what I was. Also met my current wife of 9 years there who subsequently got fired because of our relationship. She now has an administrative asst position at a doctor's office making a lot more money with a lot better working conditions. I say all that to say this. When all that other bad stuff happened I went into depression and let's just say that I didn't think my life was worth living anymore. My wife has gotten me back into church after 30 years away and I now have a great job with a nice home and wonderful extended family including 6 beautiful grand daughters. Oh yeah, and my BUMP! God has a plan. We just have to let him work it. Put your faith in Him and you will be amazed at how great your life can turn out!
