OT [censored] and dining room painting ideas

Post by OldRedFord »

Im in the process of stripping wall paper in the dining room and [censored]. The dining room has chair rail with paint below and wall paper above. My parents want to go with paint all around.

Im having trouble finding pictures of dining rooms with a chair rail with two colors of paint online to get some ideas.

The dining room and [censored] are one big room which opens into the living room.

I had suggested wainscoting under the chair rail. Dont have a yea or nea on that yet.

Here is what I am working with.

Also going to paint the [censored] cabinets and doors and new knobs. Stove hood is going to get changed out with a vented unit. New light fixtures and maybe new counter tops. Floors will come later.

If they're happy with putting wainscoting under the chair-rail then I'd go with that and paint the wainscoting a white or off white and the wall above it whatever color you guys decide on. Either way I think if you're going with two colors separated at the the chair-rail then it would look better with the wainscoting.

Thought I would update how this is going.

At this point all the wallpaper is gone. Paint on the walls in its place. Carpet and vinyl flooring are gone. Im in the middle of repainting the cabinets and installing new hardware. A tile floor will be going down in the [censored]. In the dining room either tile or hardwood.
