My new project.

Post by The Good Humor Man »

I wanted to share my new project. http://goodhumortrucks.com/69.html
After almost a year of looking for a new GH truck to rebuild, I finally got one. I sold all my other trucks when the economy got bad, and I got a offer I just couldn’t pass up.
I was restoring the trucks for a company out of Orlando that went broke, I figured that I could always get another and restore that later, but it took me 10 months to find one that was restorable enough for me to keep.
I was hoping to find a 65 or 66, because (don't hate me) I like those body styles better, but finally found this 1969, and just went for it. Most of these trucks being open cab, and years of abuse, along with bad titles, are not worth buying. It is hard to find one with a good windshield frame, good title, and most of the original parts still there.
There is a 66 in NJ with a 69 title, that I would have loved to have, but for what they want for it, and the aggravation of getting the title straightened out, I passed on it.
This one the old guy took some of it apart, and died, so there was a pile of parts with it, they didn’t know what was suppose to go on the truck, and what wasn’t. There is a huge box of parts that have nothing to do with a vehicle, let alone a GH truck..
By the time I am done with this one, it will be the best I have done, every one of them I learn more tricks, and learn more improvements.
All and all, I am having a good time with it.

My dash pad came off in pieces, so if someone has a line on a place I can pick up a new one, please pass it on. I also need a gauge bezel, horn button, vent window, drivers side window regulator, and maybe a front right fender, I need to see if my body man can get the dents out of the bump. I know some of it LMC has, and Dennis Carpenter has some also, but I have not started me parts search yet.

It is going to look cool. No pun intended, but the ice cream will stay frozen. :) No Good Humor Truck when I was a kid. Lived in the boonies. course I loved it. Got to do things city kids didn't. We just rode our bikes to Dills small store that had a fountain and a soda jerk. A few years later I :drive: my 49 Ford there.

Way to go i remember we didnt have GH when i was a kid we had pinky dinky's i dont remember them using fords but i do know they used the early 60's chevy's and even some late 50's ones . All of them were pink and white they used the old pa speakers like the electric service people use. You could hear them comming for 2-3 blocks. Well good luck on the project.

Thanks guys, I am having fun with it, I love working on these old GH trucks.
I have always been around, but with no trucks, (except my 08 F250) I just wasn't posting.
