From this third generation DD214 veteran, happy Veterans day. I'll go to Golden Corral restaurant tomorrow for a free meal they provide for veterans, (only the 2nd time I've gotten anything from my being a veteran).
Very sad, only two flags flying on my street of 30-40 homes, (one of which was mine-everyday without hesitation)!

They've given up on me! Being legally married, (and legally separated for over one year now) I can't get squat from the VA! As the late Jerry Reed sang: "She got the gold mine-I got the shaft!"Are U hooked up with the VA
They actually base services on what your 1040's state. She made way...too much money last year, and I well...being unemployed much of the year, didn't make squat. But the combined "joint" income leaves me out in the cold! The system isn't right, spoke to a vietnam vet at dinner Monday night that has waited 11 weeks to see a doctor, (that's once approved and scheduled). I believe most of us will die before ever getting through the front door of a VA hospital. Not by no means knocking the VA, the system just aint' right as far as I'm concerned.Mancar1 on Tue Nov 16, 2010 11:17 pm
Vets can use the VA as far as I know. Has nothing to do with being married or not. The VA is about the Vet
