That sucks about your stand. Congratulations on the buck though. I wish I would have got to go hunting this year. Deer and Elk are both draw hunts here in NM. It's been 8 yrs since I've drawn a tag of any kind.

Dang.. Was that tree alive? Maybe you all have weak trees kinda like the Cedars I have up
in OK... Good thing you were not in it. I fell out of a tree stand flat on my back from about
25 feet, about 30 or so years ago. Trust me, you don't want to go there.. :(
Knocked the wind out of me so bad, it seemed like 20 minutes before I could catch my breath.
But in my case, I grabbed the very top 2x4 "step" and the nails came loose.. I was holding the
step, and when it came loose, I started going backwards.. Nothing to grab.. zzzzzzzzzzzzz- BAM!
I even had time to think about it on the way down.. :/ It was a wonder I didn't break my neck
or back. I was internally bruised up for a while..

That's just plain messed up. I hope you guys catch them that would really tick me off, only trouble I've had this season is that a guy decided to sit his stand up 2 trees down right in front of my corn pile. That made me mad, then one morning when I went out there to climb up, I saw his truck on the trail and his butt in my stand :x.
