Tire sizes can be confusing. 7.50 - 16 and 12 -16.5 are examples of the old U.S. system of tire sizing. Tire manufacturers converted to the metric system of tire sizing decades ago to make things easier in a world market. The 205/55/16 is an example of the metric system of sizing. A 7.50 -16 converts to a 235/75/16. The old system is still used to some extent for larger trucks, farm equipment and other off highway machines. 16.5 tires, while once popular, are slowly being phased out. The combination of 7.50 - 16 fronts and 12 - 16.5 rears was common on trucks equipped the Camper Special package. Depending on how you use your truck you might, as others have said, consider converting to all 16" wheels. You would have a much larger list of choices and save some cash in the process. I would also suggest you consider radials in place of the bias tires you have now.
I replaced the split (16") rims with newer wheels taken off of a '94 (I think).
I bought a set of Cooper tires. This is one of the few American owned/made tires
out there.
On my ("other") panel truck,I stayed with the split rims,& went with STA-
(Specialty Tire of America) bias ply (7.50 - 17).Not near as good of tire, but still
American owned/made.These are available through Universal Tire,in Hershey,PA.
Cooper are good. With me it was either Cooper or BF Goodrich. I went with BF Goodrich, says made in USA on them. Some of my friends said I was being picky, but I wanted made in the USA. It is getting harder to find. Nothing wrong quality wise on a lot of other brands. I was going to go with Mich. untill I found out where they are made. Just trying to support our economy. As friends in other countries try to do in theirs.

Many of the tire manufacturers have plants in multiple countries. I handle tire purchasing for the fleet at my 2nd job. Recently I ordered 30 Yokohama tires for the trailers. I was very happy to see every one of them was Made In U.S.A.
Sweat Yoko's are the best IMHO. Put a set on my '77 Nova in High School and never had traction problems from them at all. Yes i raced my Nova on dirt roads and back alleys before i learned how dangerous it was.
