What would you do to your Bump with $5,000?

Post by CommrclDiver »

So I'm sitting here thinking :hmm: What would I do to The Texas Time Machine if I had $5,000 burning a hole in my pocket :? . I was thinking a stroker kit, alum. cylinder heads, beefier cam, an underdrive pully kit, and a 3.70 ring and pinion 8) :woohoo: . Also some much needed body panels  .

So what would y'all do to your Bump if you had $5,000 floating around? :D :fr: :D

I'd put it towards a new engine for sure, or a really nice rebuild. The tired old 390 gets the job done now, but I know there's a whole lot more fun to be had  Finally get my seat redone also

Replace the driver's door with a rust-free one, then spend $4900 on another AMC!

I like the way you think! 8)

As for me and my bump, I'm sure 5K wouldn't last as long as I'd like, but I'd start with poder coating the frame and a new paint job for the 71 highboy. I've already got a factory AC unit for in the cab, but I'd buy the brackets and compressor to finish the AC installation. (seems funny to be thinking about AC with snow falling right now). I'd really like to add a gear vendors overdrive, but just can't seem to justify the money.

I'd get the 300 built with cam,header,4bbl and intake then rebuild my NP435 and install a splitter and swap out my issued plauged dana 44 for a nice dana 60!!

Yepp.... for the highboy it would be body work and fresh paint.

For the race truck... 6 or 8 new 35" BFG tires... well that would pretty much use up that $5000 lol

Rebuild 390 and C6. (add a few goodies). Custom seat, & paint job.

I think some of you guys think $5,000.00 will go a lot further than my experience says it will...but:

I would strip it to bare metal and take it to the paint shop and tell then to call me when it is done... (I'm guessing to meet my standards I'd need to cough up some extra to go with the $5,000.00).

Wow seems like we got a lot of beaters  I'm in the same boat :pout:  Well at least we can say that they run good for the most part :D
I think I am going to take care of the beaten up panels and get it in primer, finish off the stakeside bed, and see where I am after the dust settles
Thanks for the input! Y'alls ideas have been very helpful. :fr:

If you do you're own work it goes a decent distance. :) After 61 years, and several vehicles, I for one have a handle on how far it would go.
