I would take one. May not want to get the cost to high, I would still take one, but I am fortunate to have a pension as well as a job. Some have been hit hard on the $$$ front.

O.K. Keith is looking into some things, so as of right now this is NOT a go yet, but:

What would be helpful is for someone to do some research and PM the information to "global moderators".

Here are some things to think about:
  • There will have to be a photo submission thread
  • a voting thread to pick the photos
  • a selling thread
  • and time to receive payments
  • the photos will have to be TAKEN by the member submitting them
  • the longer we allow for each step the more successful this will be.
Some things that we are going to have to know:
  • how much will each Calendar cost
  • are there minimums and maximums
  • how long to print them once the request and payment is submitted
  • what format and size do the digital photographs need to be
  • can we put a custom background or logo on each page
Whoever (thrush544 ? ) is willing to do this leg work just post up an "I'll find out" and see what you can come up with.

I definitely think the price should include a donation to Fordification too, my personal feeling is that we should decide what it is and post it as part of the price like ($XX.XX includes a $XX.XX donation to FORDification) but that will certainly be up to Keith.

Yeah, a part of the price per calendar should definitely be a donation to Keith for putting up this awesome site! :fr:

I would suggest that we start the photo submission thread as soon as possible, we could set a dead line for the photo submission and start the voting then. That way we would have got that already sorted out.

But before we all start throwing in hundreds of pics of our bumps :D we need to arrange a uniformed format of the pictures and also the minimum size for them.

I would help researching all this and prices for printing, but printing the calendars in Europe and shipping it back to you in the US wouldn´t make much sense :hmm:

Which brings up another point, we will have to decide how they will be shipped and if we can price them all the same or if we need to have a USA price, perhaps a Canada/Mexico price and a rest of the world...

USPS has been the easiest way to handle that in my experiance...

I agree on the thread, but we need to figure out what format the printer will need the photos in.

I can tell you that we tried to do this on another board and after it was all said and done they couldn't get enough people to order to meet the minimum and we had some pretty incredible pictures.

Also, we should probably reward the winners of the photo thread with a free calendar...

But before we go much further, we need Keith's approval, I don't think he is opposed to it, but any time you start facilitating a group buy or a project like this it can create problems. Pictures have copyright issues too, which is why it would have to be submitted by the photographer.

USPS sounds good. I think it´s a good idea to include the individual shipping costs in the price, because in the end there should be some money left for the site.

Maybe we should also set up a limit for the photo submission thread to only one picture per user, so that everyone only submits his favorite pic.

To prevent a financial disaster I would also suggest that everyone who wants a calendar pays in advance, that way you would exactly know how many to get printed.

The problem with that thread is that some of us have 3 or 4 or more "favorite" pictures. One per person!

Yeah, that´s clear. Also most of the pictures from this thread wont have the right size for printing, even the the original files. Just wanted to throw it in as inspiration :D

I would think it might be best if after it is decided to do so members could submit two of their favorites that they took and have that are large enough to use (as sugested by printer). Although when submitted for voting we would want a smaller version as not to take up so much space. Then when the two highest vote getters for each year are chosen the photographers/submitters can e-mail the size needed to a chosen address along with a release.

That is what I had in mind (and how we did it on the other board) although there were no limits on how many submitted there was one photo per post and then each person could vote for 1, the 12 with the most votes got to the calendar.

Oh, one other thing related to the copyright/trademark issue, you probably can't have any logos in the picture, for instance you probably can't park in front of a Coke sign...

I'm not sure but I thought that as long as it is not for general public sale for profit (just members/group only) that you don't have to worry about that... I could be wrong as not lawyer savvy, maybe someone else knows better... :2cents:

That is probably one of the things that Keith wants / needs to check on, I think we would prefer to err on the side of caution...
