"Son................ You are going to break that old truck, or get stranded in it, I wish you wouldnt wander off and load that old thing down" My dad, 52 years old, a guy who road in these trucks when he was a kid. He has Very little faith in my old truck, he is terrified im going to get stranded on the side of the road in it, or that I will break something.

This is what me and babydoll did today:




We worked pretty hard, she had 45 miles to lug that home, she did great, may have used a little oil but did good. enjoyed having her out today. She started GREAT in the cold weather, heated up nice, and ran great today. I love her to death, she isnt afraid to work hard. I did realize that her exhaust leak gets much worse unde the load she had. Looks like she needs new doghnuts and manifold gaskets.

Doing exactly what you did today is what got me interested in these old f100s. I had a job once hauling cut wood in a '71 f100 that belonged to my boss. Life hasn't been the same since that day.

These bumpsides are tough and can take on jobs like this anyday, anytime time of year.

there are a few big pieces on top but everything underneath is 16" pieces. half cord maybe? 2,000lbs? I think the leaf springs are pushed about as far down as they will go, it was all green. roped down by the bucket truck in the background. I got paid $8 an hour for 8 hours to clean up and cut and load firewood, beats paying for it!

It was a COLD day for being outside! 12 degrees, light snow, and 25-30mph winds! I am SO glad I put a new heater core in there when I replaced the firewall cover!!

Hauling firewood is one thing I would like to avoid doing in a 1/2 ton. I agree with your dad.

Na, I think the leafs will hold up ok. Worked non stop today and didnt get it unloaded. Got be out there bright eyed and bushy tailed in the mornin to unload it. I actually havent heard of too any leaf spring breaking. I have loaded my 95 F150 down quite a few times. the bump handles the weight MUCH better though, could be that torquey 360 where as my 925 has the EFI 302.

And if they break I will fix them. Im not going to keep the truck idle for fear of breaking something. Im slowly stashing tools into odd little spots (such as under the seat) and plan on adding a small 2ton jack. I can do almost any repair on the side of the road then.

Dads Different than yours he's 62 and loads mine up everytime we do yard work or clean the garage. And even covers the gas for hualing the junk off.

drove my 67 to cape cod twice this summer,lake george ,ny once andi live in ct...spent whole month of august cleaning out storage units and in the last week of sept. the tranny went...drive it hard just make sure everything is "good" or dad can be right...................

My guess is your dad thinks that you are leaving it to him in your will, so he doesn't want you to wear her out!

If he starts checking the date you changed your oil, or rotated your tires, it may be time to sit down with him and have "The Talk"...
