Very Nice! My Ex Wife just bought a '99 F350 SRW Crew 8' Box 2WD with a 7.3 in it. She's happy as a pig in s@#t with it. We may not get along, but she's a Ford Girl!

thanks on the congrats. this is what you get when you help some friends out so they can get rid of a payment. i did 4 thing i said i would never do. never buy a truck this new, never buy an auto trans in a truck, never buy a short bed, never buy a 6.0l. it rides nice, comfortable, easy to drive and you feel safer in it than in my other smaller cars. i just wish it got the fuel millage that my diesel golf gets.
Nice truck. Very similar to mine. I almost got one the color like yours but opted for the black on tan. I did the same thing too with buying newer and going with auto instead of standard. But the truck is great. Don't be afraid of the 6.0. It is a good motor. It has some problems that can be addressed like egr, vgt turbo, and the head bolts. But I have had two 6.0's and they have been good. Most problems come from two different extremes. Either they abuse it or baby it too much. If you take care of it and give it a good work out once in a while you will be fine. My only problems with my two 6.0s have been with sticky turbos, from lack of use. Clean the egr once in a while, 40k miles or so, and you will be good. You will start getting into money and headaches if you decide you want to tune it up, but they are fun to tune!

Thats a nice truck. I've always liked the way they feel, drive, and work. Don't drive that truck super nice. I know it sounds weird to say DON'T drive somethig nice, but don't. I know someone who has one and got over 100k before he had any major issues. and the only issue he had was the turbo got stuck and the EGR valve plugged up. Also, Change your fuel filter often! bad fuel is the number one cause of injectors going south! Make sure you change your fuel filters often and use good fuel.
Drive it like a truck, tow with it, haul with it, make sure you let that engine work, and you probably wont have that many problems.
I've seen one with a tuner, egr delete, entire upgraded fuel system, head studs and aftermarket head gaskets, re ground cam, and a whole lot of other stuff. It was sure a fun truck to drive!

i did notice that these seem to be hi maintaince motor especcially since it is best to use oem filters. when the weather gets warmer i did plan on pulling the egr valve and cleaning it and flushing the cooling sysytem out.
I don't think they are more hi maintenance, just more expensive when you do. I change the oil every 5k miles and I use regular dino oil. Synthetic can probably go 10k. I wouldn't worry about flushing the coolant unless you really want to. The best and most recommended mod is to add a coolant filter. It does not void any warranty if you have one also. However, I have yet to take this advice so I don't know for sure.

the problems with the cooling system are with cavitation. In other words, tiny air bubbles that produce a very powerfull pop when they do pop. they eat away at the front cover when they do, as this is aluminum and houses the water pump. they can eat through the aluminum housing in a very short time. You should make sure your coolant is changed when it needs to be flushed 3 years or every 60K miles. My background on this is from working at a Ford dealership (hence the red part in my sig) that specializes in Ford Trucks only. no cars.
