I've learned to tip my hat, nod and smile. Then walk away.
Unless it's a friend just trying to rib me. In which case I'd have said;
"Cars are not necessary, but trucks are. Any where you can go in a car, you can take a bus or a taxi. But just try to load that much B.S. in a taxi! It takes a truck to haul manure like that!" :wink:

Well, there is something true to be said about that.
Years ago, when the van craze was around, all the delivery companies were pissed off that the prices of vans went up due to everyone wanted one.
There are people who own trucks, and never use the bed, or tow a trailer, why own one then?
Yes it is cool to drive a truck, but it is also cool to have a pocket full of cash from the cash you save on buying, and driving a fuel saving car.
I am also one who believes if you don’t need a truck, you shouldn’t drive one. Maybe for those of us who need them, the prices would drop.

But he always had a big block equipped station wagon (Ford) with a trailer hitch and a trailer.
I've always had at least 1 truck (usually more) for 27 of my 32 driving years.
Station wagons are cool when they have a big block AND simulated wood paneling.

I couldn't respond to this thread fast enough. People with opinions such as the Cavalier driver think they know what is best for everyone and aren't afraid to tell you what they think (like outlawing selling happy meals with toys in them). The problem is, they're usually the same people who will say that profiling people at the airport and keeping penalties for drug and alcohol offenses severe is unfair. The fact is, none of these positions make sense. They are all detramental to any society.

Ask her why women are allowed to buy different colors of makeup. What a waste. Lipstick should only be manufactured in one color and the price of that lipstick should be on a sliding scale based upon your personal income. The more money she makes the more she should have to pay for her lipstick. Those poor animals that are being slaughtered and maimed in the manufacturing and testing of make up! Seriously it should be illegal! If a she wants to get dolled up, she should have to go to an airbrush artist and get it painted on.

Start throwing her choices in life in her face and see what she thinks about her rights and freedoms then. People like that seldom keep their point of view when it's their freedoms that are infringed upon. It's holy and just for them to try and make your choices for them, but don't try to step over the line and tell them how to live their lives.

The most unfortunate thing here is that people with her mentality will never understand what you're saying. She will look at you and think, "What is this guy's problem?" And then when she realizes you're talking about her choices and freedoms, she will get angry at you. She has skipped right over the "two-way-street" part and into self. It's OK to take away your freedom of choice, but it's not OK to compromise her freedom of choice. She will never make the connection. Words wasted, blah blah blah. But we know what you mean.
