The conversation didn't go far. We were at work and I didn't want to get into it. It was a slow day at work and for fun I was looking up pictures of trucks and saw a picture for Ford's concept truck the Super Chief. http://trucks.about.com/od/fordconceptv ... ept-Truck/ Yes it is over the top and I would never own it myself even if I Could afford it. But I was showing her the wood floor interior with bushed aluminum and foot rest for the rear passengers because I thought it was funny. That's when she said that "Trucks should not be made anymore except for companies or businesses. If the general public needs one they should go rent one." I for one am glad the rest of the country doesn't think this way.

That Super Chief is not something I would want. But, the uglier I think a vehicle is, the more popular they seem to be to the masses. I guess we'll be seeing a lot of these Super Chiefs around.

If trucks are not mass-produced they would be hand made. Most can't afford a hand-made truck. Trucks would be in the price range of Ferrari's and Rolls Royce's. As much as I would like a truck made by Ferrari, I can't afford it even if it was given to me for free.
X2 on this. Tell her you will rent your truck to her plus driver fees next time.

Not true. I don''t want to tell others what to drive either. I myself would like to own a prius........with a fully blown 460 under the hood. Talk about bastardizing a vehicle with a cross breed motor. 8)

I felt sick after i traded in my first truck. Was sick when the 302 in my current truck imploded. Even driving an F650 Rollback wasn't enough to relieve the sickness. Felt sick when i had to park her 1/4 down the road, and still feel sick with the greinfing noise i have @45 mph and above.

Wow their not going to drop the F-series are they?

While "that" specific truck most likely wont become reality (it was a tip of the hat to much finer days, when travel by rail was in vogue), it does speak to her point. She should sell her car, and buy tickets on Amtrack... :D
She could get a private rail car with a bar, and entertain the volumes of friends she seems to be winning over...

The grill and badge from the Super Chief did make it to the 2011. And I think the base mechanicals for the engine are the 6.2 L Coyote.
The "Mad Max" version of the supercharger for when it's running on corn would be pretty fun on just about anything!

BTW: I have a Prius. It's my "get out of jail free car...d".

It's OK to take away your freedom of choice, but it's not OK to compromise her freedom of choice. She will never make the connection. Words wasted, blah blah blah. But we know what you mean.

Classic Narcissim at it's finest, a great product of the social experiment that has been going on in this country since the early 1900's.

Only problem is, those responsible for the experiment (and those continuing it today) have failed to realize that what they are trying to create has never been succesful. It fails on every level, and creates an antogonistic societal atmosphere where everyone is out for themselves (some because they think it is their right to do so, others because they have been programmed to think that everyone else is out to take from them).

It's only going to slowly get worse, over time. Just take a drive down your local metropolitan interstate for a prime example of this.

Personally I would have asked her who she thought she was, and then told her to go pound sand and quit telling everyone else how to live their lives.

The exterior looks ok I guess. Not digging the interior at all. Reminds me of a tacky cocktail lounge circa 1970's

First off that a city woman talking, they dont know anything (no offence, but its true) , I have 2 trucks, my DD is a Mustang but several times a month I MUST have a truck. My girlfriend drives a truck( I GUESS I can count a 2500 Z71 as a truck), it gets used by her family on a regular basis.

Most NEW trucks though are useless, a friend of mine a has a crewcab F150 with a TINY bed, I wouldnt own it. And to her credit a LOT of people that own trucks live in suberbs and have no use at all for them, they cover the beds with flat covers and create a large trunk. USELESS.

I went truck shopping a couple years ago, the truck I wanted didnt exist: F150 or 250, 4x4, LWB, Manual trans, vinyl seats, rubber floor, gasonline, base trim, roll up windows, manual locks, CD player (hey, gotta have that) The dealer laughed at me, I was told that upgrading to 4x4 meant auto trans and a nicer trim (carpet) Now WHY would I want carpet in a 4x4?!?!?! Such a truck didnt exist anywhere, was told the closest I could get would be a large dealer that sold trucks to construction companies, even then the auto trans was almost all that could be had. Needless to say I was VERY disappointed.

My point is trucks have moved into a different role than they used to fill. People only bought trucks that needed them, now they are so fancy, my dads 2010 Dodge 1500 has built in coolers in the back floorboard, it has a 5' 5" bed and its a crew cab. Useless to me. (I do like the dodges built in tool boxes though) They are built more now for comfort, they have no overloads anymore (not even my 94), you can forget loading 1/2 cord of wood in the bed they way i do my 1969.

I am so disappointed with the new trucks, but it makes me fall ever deeper in love with my bump, she really works hard and Im so proud when she shows up the "new kids on the block" in terms of capacity and usefulness. Yeah her 360 is very thirsty but she has the torque to get the job done and her 8ft bed has the capacity to haul more than my friends trucks, your HEMI might outrun me but you cant out-haul me :-)

I talk too much.......................
1969 F100. All factory 360, 4-speed, candy apple red one owner. Incredible truck!
