Removing tough stains in home carpets
Anyone got any proven suggestions... We are preparing to sell our house and have a few tough stains that are whipping
our butts. My wife has tried spot shot, dawn and even saw that shaving cream works well... The stain is still there...

Do you know what the stain is from? I have had some luck with simple green.

Pretty sure it is some juice of some sort from the boys. Didn't think about Simple Green... I love that stuff, even thoughMancar1 wrote:Do you know what the stain is from? I have had some luck with simple green.

I don't know if you can get it but Dollar Tree sells a cleaner called "Awsome". I don't know what's in it but I've yet to find anything it won't clean.
I lent my smoker rig to by Bro in Law a few years back to take to Bristol for the races and, a few days after he brought it back I noticed the 2 150 quart coolers were covered in some kinda black goo. Turned out to be rancid vegatable oil from where he'd gotten drunk and decided it would be smart to throw about 30 frozen chicken wings in the deep fryer at one time. I tried everything, Dish detergent , Simple Green, Greased Lightening, power washer. Nothing would touch it. Then my mom told me to try the Awsome. I was really skeptical but, damned if it didn't melt right off. I also use it on the pots and bowls that I put in the smoker. I used to have to scrub them wiith scotchbrite to get the smoke stains off but with the awsome, it's just squirt and rinse.

Thanks for the suggestion, but have you ever tried it on fabrics or carpets? Something that powerful sounds like it would dissolve my carpetR.Smith wrote:I don't know if you can get it but Dollar Tree sells a cleaner called "Awsome". Re: Removing tough stains in home carpets
Try some type of oxygenated cleaner like concetrated hydrogenpyroxid that should workon juice stains but test first it might lighten the carpet.

Will definitely try all these on an obscure spot. Thanks for all your suggestions.

A carpet "steam" cleaner works wonders. The rest of the carpet will look better to. Having a cleaner carpet will help with the appearance of the house and the sale.

We have a steam cleaner we are using on the carpets. I actually got the honor of doing the stairs last night...Racer Z wrote:A carpet "steam" cleaner works wonders. The rest of the carpet will look better to. Having a cleaner carpet will help with the appearance of the house and the sale.

Ha ha. I hope it's not flammable.R.Smith wrote:Maybe I'll put some in my gas tank.
Gasoline got it's start in life as carpet cleaner. When the internal combustion engine was invented, after a few house had burnt down, they found that gasoline made a better fuel than a cleaner.
