Re: PROCRASTINATORSWhat do you put off that you are ready to do?
I found I have allowed fear to slow me down needlessly on the wheel cylinders. Not sure why I made such a big deal of it. At this point I am amassing all the goodies to redo the brakes completely while I am in there. That is Procrastination based on self doubt, and I am somewhat ashamed of myself. I took advantage of the daylight to at least investigate how it would go. The bolts come out easily now after weeks of repeated pb blaster attacks. The axle locknut socket is an item I shall get on payday and then I can stop putting that bit of work off. What surprises me the most is that in spite of all I have accomplished I still manage to scare the crap out of myself thinking about "can I do it" stuff. I hope to have the put-it-offs totally abated by the time I can attempt my first rebuild. Never rebuilt an engine in my life except for helping do a top-end rebuild on a ford pinto 2.3L. This thread is meant to help motivate those of us who want to get things done and seek a way to process the ideas well enough to not be daunted by getting started. Once I get started, it gets done. The starting is my issue when I scare myself. I look forward to even the scarier stuff, but starting it... working on that part.

well todays report. as i knew it would happen my truck wont start when it has bene raining or misting outside. so i had to sit here all day long and get even madder about everything. i tried wd40 in the dist cap and that did nothing to help it start. this is somesort of no fire situation with this truck everytime it has rained.

I had that happen until I decided to try the dielectric grease on the plug boots and cap nipples. I ran a bead of silicone around the bottom of the cap too. Also I find pb blaster drives water out better than wd40. I have a minor bit of knowledge compared to many here, but I will keep trying to be of use. I would think moisture is the issue, as I had the same problem.

Isn't this were we co-sign each others BS and tell ourselves it's OK to do nothing today?
It was another downpour this morning. That's my excuse to do nothing today. It stopped raining and I took the dogs for a walk. Then it turned into another downpour just as we got back.
My shop is so full of ... stuff that I got to put half of it out on the lawn just to get to the light switch. So I can't even work in there in bad weather.
But, maybe tomorrow will have better weather and I can amuse myself with a new excuse to put things off another day.

My plan is to put a tarp over the drivers side of my truck so that I can continue working on the wiring of my truck but im procrastinating on the tarp!!! I even got a $50 gift card for harbor freight and I went there monday and grabbed a tarp but then i put it down and walked out empty handed.
Maybe tonight i'll get back on it if it stops raining.

Truck - Front bushings and paint to cover surfaces to prevent additional rust.
Other vehicles - 4 separate projects purchased and not started.
House - a list 40 or 50 items long.

yeah it could be worse you could live out hear in south dakota where we are having freezing rain and then we are going to get covered in snow.bbbuuurrrBobbyFord wrote:The weather here lately is pissing me off. As soon as it dries out, another rainstorm is forecasted. I know, I know we're spoiled here in southern California but I swear I feel gills sprouting on my neck.
I have a lot to do to my truck; Dream beams, axle flip, driveshaft loop, carpet, firewall cover, disc swap, gotta pull the bed back off and finish welding in the bumper bracket nuts, door weatherstrip kits, bodywork, paint, etc.
I guess it could be worse.

I read this thread when it was started... and just now got to posting
I remembered that I got a new firewall and carpeting at least a year ago, maybe more, and have yet to install either of them.
