Is it worth it? Price of 72.
Found another parts truck. Its a 72 swb. Has a decent body. Cab floors and mounts a little rough but otherwise body appears pretty good. Few minor dings and dents. It has 76 302 and c4 but trans slips. Has 76 discs and power brake setup. All in good shape. Has pretty nice bed. I need the driveshaft and bed bad for mine. Could swap to discs too. Question is would it be worth 500?

for me I paid 600 for my donor. a 71 f100. got hood, doors, bed and quarters. still going to get AC compressor and windshield. body parts were better than what I had but still needed a little tlc. I feel confident I can still get 500-600 for it when I am done picking through it. Has a nonpro rebuilt 360 according to PO. SO if you can get some parts off the donor that you wil need, 500 seems a good price. just dependes on what parts you want to pull. just my opinion.

Over here, if it was a SWB, in good shape, it would be worth a grand or more all day. The SWB are hard to come by over here, I paid $300 just for a decent bed and I thought that was a steal. I would jump on it.
Honestly, I really would rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy.

If I had it, and I needed it, I'd do it. Power disc brake, a decent bed, driveshaft and a rebuildable core 302 and c4's well worth $500.

Re: Is it worth it? Price of 72.
i try not to pay more than 250.00 for a parts truck. but the parts trucks i buy usually dont have any good body left to them. only the bed. and it is hard to sell a bed. the trucks i find are always long beds though. if i had shortbeds i could probably sell them all day long. its really hard to sell a engine too. especially if its not a for sure 390.

I figure it could help me alot. A short bed in decent shape goes ove 400 around here. Heres some pics. You can see the cab sagging but otherwise looks good. Gonna check it out before I get too far. Actually look it over for myself. Then comes part trading to get the 300 more I need! Got a decent looking 71 grille. Few other goodies I can trade if I get it!

Rims, bumpers, and bed rails would be worth it alone for me to buy that. Throw in the fact that it is a short bed and I'm sold. Still you may be able to get a better price if you try.

The box would be worth a $1000 around here.
But transporting would cost all of that

All day long even in this economy. 5-10 years ago you could easily triple your money on that deal but should be able to break even. In all my swapping and dealing I have never really paid for the actual truck I have
. Upgrades,...now that's another story
Good Luck!

So far I paid plenty for my 72. Parts trucks usually are joint ventures and so far I have broke even or made money on them. Just hope this one dont break the trend.
