Lost a Hero

Post by Venado82 »

I just wanted to share with y'all that America lost a hero last week. My Grandfather-in-law, J.R. Bennett passed from this earth a week ago tomorrow. He was one of nine of his platoon to make it off the beach in Normandy on D-Day and was one of the 25 most decorated WWII vets in the nation. He'll be missed greatly by friends and family but we know he's swapping stories with his fallen buddies right now. Please remember all the sacrifices that were made so we could live free.

A True Hero! My Families Prayers are Sent! People Compare my Generation with All the other generations that have fought in Wars. I can honestly say that I don't think the soldiers of the current wars would be able to perform like those fine men did during that time. I truly hope he lived a long satisfying life! My Greatest Respect!

He lived to be 88 and still lived alone and worked his own cattle on his own ranch. He lost his wife 5 years ago and still made it on his own. He was a strong man. One of his Purple Hearts came for carrying his Sargent 3 miles to safety on his shoulder after being shot himself. I'm very proud to have known him and to have been able to call him Grandaddy.

A WWII purple heart soldier is a true hero, we can only imagine how bad they had it over there.
Prayers sent for you and your family. Thank you JR for your service.

From my family to yours, we hold you in our prayers. I lost a great uncle in a bomber that was shot down. He did not make it out of the aircraft but others did. He recieved the purple heart.
