Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty - 6/03/10 Questions
Hey guys,
Well here are some things I have done to Brandi (my bump):
Normal Serving
FlowTech Headers
FlowTech RedHot Glass Packs
New Hard Board Headliner
Converted 2wd Junk Yard Trans w/ Extended Driveshaft
Sanded and Primered Inside Driver and Passenger Door
Preped and Sanded the Insided of the Cab for primer (need to prime it )
Sanded, Primered, and Painted the dash flat black
If any questions about the things I have done above ask away.
Saturday, May 01, 2010
Today I decied to paint my dash after being board of the flat black color. I painted the dash about a year ago just before I got it legal.
With the first time I painted the dash there wasn't much to remove but the instrament pannel, bezels and nobs. Removed the glove box door and ash tray to have have the paint flow so there would be no green showing. Same now but have to remove the radio, cb and cup holder. Here are some pictures during the process again.

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty
I am painting the dash again Glossly White, I have a flat white prime coat drying over night. Intotal there will be 2 gray primer coats from before, 2 flat black coats for final color a year ago. Now a flat white primer coat will be going on and a glossly white to finsh it off. Picture's will be posted tomarrow of the finish product.
EDIT (Still Flat White Prime coat)
Gives you an idea on how its gonna turn out. Really lightens up the cab.

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty
Here is the final product, its really not a good pic I finished right as the sun was setting. I started about 5:30 pm on saturday and finished about 7:20 pm on sunday.

Well its make shift and it gets the job done. Here is my paint booth.
Slowly working my way around the inside of the cab. Drive side door next and then the rest of the cab. Hopefully I can get all the body work done before I leave for basic. Like I said anything is better than this primer job the PO did that is slowly coming off by the elements.
Here is both of the doors painted glossy white. Really cant tell how well it is with a cell phone camera.
My plans are just to get her looking good over the next couple of months, but every once and awhile do something major. I plan on doing a cheep paint job just to get the factory color and crapy primer the PO put on off. Kinda like a full resto but in stages, but I think the first thing after the paint job will be total suspension and power train tune up.Caseys71 wrote:Brandi is coming along nicely . Didn't take any picture of the prep work it was mostly done when I sanded the cab for primer about a year ago. Got a flat white primer on it and sprayed the glossy white got the cab all painted all the way from the top of the gas tank to the bottom of the pillers by the dash pad. Parents said I did a good job just with using spray paint.

Ya I decided I would finally make a headliner after the first one broke. I made it awhile back. It really makes the cab pop. Not much really that is going to be done soon, shy of 3 months before I leave for basic. I will be buying this paint gun from Harbor Freight tho http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/ ... 47016.html. Hopefully I can get some pratice before I leave and have my parents send my truck off to get preped and when I get home paint it. Or prep the bed and paint that before I leave, I am still jumping back and forth between the cab or bed.hazelnut wrote:Looks like your off to a good start on it, looks like a fresh headliner too.

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty - 5/11/10
Thanks Hazelnut and Hotrod Ford,
Here is the paint gun I bought and a set of roof marker lights. I hope to get them installed tomarrow, sad thing is I got to take down my headliner that is h*ll to put back up. The roof marker lights comes with scotch locks, power wire, switch, screws, and ground wire. The paint gun came with two filters and a couple other stuff. Still got to read the directions. Hope to get practicing with it soon. For the lights I will get a day and night shot.
5/14/10
Well got the cab roof marker lights installed and wired up. Here is some pictures on how I made my middle one center. I could not make up my mind on which way I wanted the light with the 3 middle close or evenly spaced so I kinda mixed it up. Ran a peice of yarn down the rib in the middle of the hood. Ran another peice up the window laying on the roof( being careful not dent the roof ). Then ran a little peice on top of the cab making sure that it was straight. I then ran a peice of yarn length wise across the cab to make sure they were all the right depth back.
Night
Finally decided to make something to hold the groceries from sliding all around the bed. Yes my bump is a grocery getter for the family. I just took acouple of old boards laying in my back yard and cut them to size. The T board can move allowing a tighter fit, no more waiting to open soda bottles.

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty - 5/16/10
This happened on the 18th
Here is what happens when my truck crunch's a car. I dont remember what type it was but this guy didn't yeild and I had a protected green arrow and hit the bottom of my cab and front part of the bed fender. The only thing that happened to mine was it put a little bow in the bottom the the bed side and bent the fender brace. This man is lucky I didn't turn his car into a amuture Moster truck show. This is the 8th time I have been almost hit by someone, the man thought it was my fault called the cops. The cop explained that what he just said basicly proved he was at fault. The man tried to fit the ticket and tried to prove it was my fault. It was fun explaining to the cop that my truck was a 70 F100 and not a 70 F150. The insurence company also had a hard time trying to figure out why my truck didn't have any damage. I tried tell them he off set my cab a little and they said they would get back to me, hopefully all I have to do is lossen the bolts and shove it back it alittle. The bottom rocker pannel and bed did all that damage because my truck sits the height of his hood.

Glad the accident wasn't bad and the cop found the other guy at fault. Where did you get those cab lights at?

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty - 6/03/10
Well thank you again. I am enjoying every minute of it. I figured out what was wrong with my truck the spindle broke completely. So right now I am calling every junk yard to see if they have any spindles for a 72 F100 4x4. I was wondering if there are another year spindle I could use like different year wise or possiblly off another model just to broaden my search. Instead of just asking for a 72 F100 spindle.

That's a nice looking newer truck. Those years are pretty sought after, especially if they are in good shape. Nice job!

Re: Brandi, Project Beast to Beauty - 6/03/10 Questions
Haven't been on lately due to busting my but for Uncle Sam and being deployed but recently came home for my lovely little bundle of joy.
Here is little Miss Shelby.
Really haven't done any work to Brandi (F100) but did add an addition to the team of work and play horse's. Here they are from oldest and first bought to youngest and recent to the family. Hopefully now that i'm back state side I will be able to get Brandi up to par with Hailey and the F350. Haven't decided a name for her yet.
