Highboy can haul!

Post by adrianspeeder »

Picked up a "free" '98 Dodge with title that needs a fuel pump the other day. However my '08 and '79 dually I have down here are stuck in snow in the back yard, so lets see if the ole '74 F-250 can do a pull. Plenty of power from the 360, didn't even need granny on the fresh install of the NP435 from a C6 swap, good handling, but stopping without a brake controller and four drum brakes not a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Not sure if it is a 318 or 360.

Already has a headstart on gettin' a new fuel pump.

Yup, power brakes.

I'm in Delaware friend.

Fooled around with the pump and it runs and sprays fuel on me when hooked to a battery. Fuel pump relay swaps with the horn relay checking good, so now have to find where the break in power is.

Don't get rid of that highboy. The dodge is going to spend a lot of time on that trailer. J/K congrats on the new to you truck.

Tip of the iceberg bud. It starts with a little halfton truck then it goes into machinery, lumber and other heavy materials. Toss some 7% grades in there and your hooked.

I've towed with many trucks. I prefer doing the heavy stuff with a highboy.

Gotta love the twin turbos for pullin' fast though. Even the big loads...

Couldn't even use my trailer as the mini was too narrow to fit on my ramps and runners, but I was able to borrow my friends tilt deck.

Well I got the Powerstrokes for the big loads, or if I gotta roll on the highway. Normally for just around town towin' I use the '79 dually as it is fun to drive as well. I felt it was enough truck to keep the tail from wagging the dog however.

You have too many trucks. The Air Force must be paying you too much!

Eatin' rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
All be drinkin' free bubble-up,
An' eatin' that rainbow stew.
