probably the easiest way to check with out pulling the entire engine out would be to remove the oil pan and the crank or pull on of the heads and measure the strokefbomb100 wrote:the guy said its a rebuilt 390 but the vin saids its a 360.
you may have a Dana 60 in your truck. i have a D60 in my F100 and its a 5 lug so its possible i have seen other F100 with a 5 lug D60fbomb100 wrote:the rear ends not a 9" but looks the one who had it before him put a chevy 10 bolt in it,I got to look up what rear end it is too ..
Get a straight 12 inch piece of coat hanger wire. Get a magic marker. Remove the number 1 and number 4 spark plugs. Turn the engine over until the timing mark is at TDC. Put the wire in the number 1 spark plug hole with wire resting on the top of the piston. Make a mark on the wire even with the lip on the valve cover. Now move the wire over to the number 4 cylinder and mark the wire again. Measure the distance between the two marks.
3.78 is the stroke for the 390 and 3.5 is the stroke for the 352 and 360 engines.
