We found a 68 short box in a barn.One owner truck and after some wheelin and dealin, took it home. The po told us he backed it in the barn 10 years ago when his father passed , and the truck hadnt been touched since, Well i know why. There is no way the truck was drove to where we found it.Now im not sayin he is a liar but he was less than honest.
Amoung everything else, when we went to fire it up,it wouldnt start. Great comp.,Great spark but no life,so we pulled the carb for a quick rebuild and found that every screw on the thing was stripped.Someone had attempted to rebuild it and destroyed it in the process,Im guessing that the truck was where it was for this reason.The pumps on the old autolite 1100 were jb welded on...the needle valve had a small bent nail holding it in and the jet had been drilled out to allow unrestricted flow. Needless to say $254.00 and a trip to advanced auto will fix the problem!
