Eastwood mig welder
Does anyone own or ever used this welder. If so how well does it work and is it easy to set up for different welds and metals? Was it worth the money?

Re: Eastwood mig welder
I personally am like the guy above would buy a used Miller/Lincoln unit.
You can get a new unit for 1/4 plate with gloves and a mask for about $800 if you look around a bit.
They have tons of re-placement parts, and last longer then anything out there.

Does this Eastwood meet your requirements? Does it have the duty cycle you want?
I don't have any experience with Lincoln, Miller, or even Hobart yet. Hobart is now owned by Miller. These are all big names and I would be confidant with any of their new products.
The reason I don't have any "experience" with Hobart, even though I said I own a Hobart, is that I don't have the power requirements needed to run my Hobart arc welder. It requires a 220 volt 100 amp feed. It can also run on 330/440 3-phase. So, I can't plug it in and use yet. It also weights 600 pounds so it's not in the portable class either. Yeah, it only cost $100, but the electrician's bill will be staggering. That was something I overlooked.

Re: Eastwood mig welder
IMO if you can afford to get a lincoln or miller or even a hobart then in the long run you'd likely be happier with it. I don't like the 20%duty cycle at 135 amps. However you won't be running the amps that high to weld sheet metal. On the other hand, this welder has some prety good reviews and at $300 bucks this might be a good way to start out. It's got a 3 year warranty and a 30 day return policy if bought from eastwood. If you find youself needing/wanting a better welder, you could probably craigslist it for $250 and put that money towards a nicer unit down the road if you take good care of it.

Re: Eastwood mig welder
From what I can see, everyone says to stay away from the "Chinese made Eastwood mig welders".
Type this: "who makes eastwood mig welders" into the Google searchbar and read from others experiences.
I try not to buy ANYTHING Chinese.

Re: Eastwood mig welder
Ditto, Eastwood just rebrands a welder. It looks like a knockoff of the Lincoln 110's, might even be one under the skin.
Stop by your local Lowes and also read the reviews and info on the manufacturers site before going shopping to buy. A little 110 will do 90% of your basic repair work, sheetmetal and exhaust stuff. I welded some fish plate on a trailer axle with my Lincoln 110 years ago.
The flip side is if you ever decide to build something with thicker plate a 220 machine is the only way to go.
