Nice lookin truck.
I also went with a fan from a taurus, flows the same as the lincoln and easier to find. I see you went the one wire alt route as did I, it's a great upgrade in my opinion. I opted for the 185 kick off on the fan switch and it works great.

Ya it is a one wire to a two speed controller. On low at 180 and high at 195. Have not seen high yet!!BlueOvalDave wrote:Nice lookin truck.

So today I replaced my shocks and installed a carburator.
The shocks made a big improvement over the old stuff that was on it. I used to drive down the bumpy freeway and change lanes while hitting all those bumps. Now not an issue. Why did I wait so long? New in place..

So on to the carburator. I put in a Holley 4160 part# 80453 into my 360ci with a RV cam. Runs 8 times better than before. The previous 2 barrel carb had a flat spot at 1500RPM that would not go away with copious amounts of tunning. It is a very tired carb.
I had the fun of installing the carb and running it for 20 minutes tunning and it leaned out and ran crappy. After some disection of the NEW carb I found a piece of FOAM stuck in one of the jets. I have no foam in my garage and was using yellow micro fiber cloths while working on it. The foam origin is a mystery. But with that, since I had adjusted the foats and such with FOAM in a jet I had to start over!!!
Okay then I go to setup the linkage and find, uh oh the original linkage is too short.... I get two articulating ends and a piece of 1/4 instock and make my own. Works great!!
Still have a tiny bit of hesitation on heavy initial acceleration. Since I have adjusted the idle mixtures to 1/8 turn from full I may need to play with the jets some. The one that came with the carb are marked 632. I have a bought a jet kit that contains #64-99 jets. Will play with that after the exhaust is done.

So today fined tuned the carb and got rid of the small hesitation. It was a comination of float height and the coil shorting to ground through the tachometer sending wire... (wierd)
Then I installed a painless fuse block (3 always hot and 4 ignition hot) to power gauges and take the choke power off the ignition switch.
Gauges work and I have not finalized the transmission gauge yet because I am not sure how I want to plumb it into the transmission lines. I put the stock sending unit at the thermostat housing and the Autometer at the intake.
Good day!! Injury report: 2 inch gash on head (fought the hood) scratch to left arm bruised shin (caused by the bashing of head and falling out of engine compartment)

Added an overflow bottle to the radiator. Got it off a Dodge Ram 1500 V6. Holds alot and tapers to fit where I wanted it. It is held in place with a hose clamp covered in friction tape. It is the best I could come up with for now. I will continue to review this mounting aspect and see if it needs changing. It was amazing I was able to add 1 gallon of extra coolant to the system using this.

To be honest I could not feel a difference until I did the exhaust with the new carb. The stock exhaust system was VERY restrictive and would not let the Carb show its full potential. It was soo bad it blew the spot welds out of the Original 40 year old muffler!! Now I definatly feel a difference with the setup as a whole. Installed a transmission temp sending unit the other day. So far after 100+ miles getting a little seepage from the fitting but I think it can be fixed with a little tightning of the setup. Transmission is pretty much matching the temp of the engine coolant 200-205 degrees. I am not sure I like this and may install an additional trans cooler to bring it down.

I viewed your exhaust video and really liked it. Your truck is really sweet and I am envious of the upgrades that you have done. Keep up the great work! Also, thanks for the pm on the exhaust info....very helpful.
