Re: sevetytew redew
here's one of the parts trucks (ST).. sold the utility bed for $300, which coincidentally is exactly what I paid for the truck.. don't let the beauty fool ya.. she had plenty of issues.. but he deal is working for me so far. this is the chassis I'm using.. also maybe one fender, one inner fender, core support and misc.

Re: sevetytew redew
I got most of my parts trucks stripped down.. we got a little snow and digging out was more work than tearing down.
I found a little rust in the rear of my cab from BT.. it's probably a wash vs.the green cab, I'm gonna fix the blue one and use its title as the green one was "salvaged"
made a dolly for the cab and a simpler one for the bed. need to make some decisions on how carried away to get with the bed. It's pretty good and want to keep it nice, but this will be a daily driver/shop truck, so I probly wont get too fancy on the wood.
My 300 is gonna get freshened up too, I ran a compression check before I pulled it and it seems a bit tired.. looking into the cyl thru the spark plug hole shows .060 oversize already.. ??

Just take that 240 apart and use that block with your 300 rotating assembly. .060 over on a 300 leaves perilously thin cylinder walls and is not recommended, and you can't buy off the shelf pistons any bigger anyhow. The 240 block has the same size bore and is physically identicle. You'll just need to buy pistons to fit your bore.Eric L wrote:My 300 is gonna get freshened up too, I ran a compression check before I pulled it and it seems a bit tired.. looking into the cyl thru the spark plug hole shows .060 oversize already.. ??

Re: sevetytew redew
thanks, agreed.. I dont know the condition of the bore on the the 300 yet.. it was working fine for me.. I also dont know where the the 240 is at on bore size either.. may be overbore already also (shows signs of being rebuilt also). I had knee surgery this AM and and had been working on another project this past week, so I have not been able to investigate further.fomocoguy wrote: Just take that 240 apart and use that block with your 300 rotating assembly. .060 over on a 300 leaves perilously thin cylinder walls and is not recommended, and you can't buy off the shelf pistons any bigger anyhow. I'm thinking if my bore is OK I'll do rings and bearings and use a good 240 head I have laying around.. I believe there are differences in the heads, but have not tracked down the exact difference.. I'd like to bump the compression a little, but not much. thinking a head swap may get me some, just not sure how much.
