Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
This is such a great project thread. Absolutely love and appreciate the pics of each stage. Mostly because I hope to be doing the same exact thing with mine in the near future. In a couple of pics, it looks like you had the frames of the doors and interior edges of the doors painted. But in one of the pics, it looks like the door frame has been taped off. Did you have the door frames and window frames painted? Is it difficult to remove the bed and did you do it yourself or did the body guys do it? Thanks and keep the pics comin!

Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
Hi Terry,
The project sort of grew and we ended up taking out all the door glass and painting the doors and interior. Originally, more was to be just taped but once you are into the project you might as well do it the best way you can. I did not take the bed out myself. Just 8 bolts holding it in but I imagine you need 4 guys to lift it out?
The clear coat still needs to be buffed or sanded... The guy who does that is stopping by over the weekend to do it. Actually they still need to paint the hood and outside of the tailgate tonight or tomorrow morning first.

Thanks Buford! ended up going no pearl. though about it but decided to play it safe and just go "original"... I've also been told, from a truck's value standpoint, you are better off keeping it as close to stock as possible ( unless you are going all out custom...).

Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
I'm really partial to the boxwood green, I've owned other colors of bumps but, this will really grow on ya, my dad was always a Blue kinda guy, and it also was the first bump I ever drove, Man, I'll tell ya, if he could have seen how I made that 390 screem those Saturday nights, anyway, Love your project, can't wait to see it completed, I'll be watching!! You might try taking that grin of your face

Those brackets look awesome. What did you end up painting them with? They have a nice solid look to them vs. a "tinny" aluminum look to them.

Thank Terry! used Zinc bare metal primer and Rustoleum Metalic (Matte Nickel) paint. Hope to have pics of the truck up early next week (finished I hope).

Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
This paint project is taking much longer than originally anticipated and is becoming frustrating... A few pics of the truck now sent out to the finishers to get wet sanded/buffed:

Your truck is looking incredible. I cant wait for when the paints all done. Boxwood green really does grow on you. When I first bought my 70 I figured Iwould repaint it a blue or red. But from seeing how great Boxwood green looks I might do something like you have had done on yours.

Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
Well, forgot to bring camera when the cab was buffed out and looked great... Took these today but truck is covered in dust back at the body shop:
Painted the red on the 390 emblems using some Victory Red I bought at the auto store:
Screwed up and ordered the wrong back window rubber (needed the one with chrome trim)... Guys at shop put it in anyway now I can't return the rubber! Tried installing this chrome rear view mirror attachement bracket I bought from LMC and it is slightly too small and unusable. Gotta be patient working on these projects.

To be honest, I've been checking your thread every day hoping for an update w/pics. The truck looks totally awesome. You've done an outstanding job so far. The chrome windshield trim and drip rail look great. That's a bummer about the rear window seal but still looks sweet. The 390 emblems look great too. I'm envious as I estimate that I am about 1 year away from where you are now. I'll keep watching your thread for the ongoing progress w/trim and the interior. Keep the great pics coming!

Re: 1969 Ranger - Boxwood Project
Thanks for the kind words Terry! Once you start you get sucked in... Now planning on ordering new upper side molding - the ones I have now are "okay" but would not look good with new paint. Will reuse the lower moldings since they are in better shape.
