Re: Emission Tomorrow!
Is it just a sniffer test up the tail pipe, or do they look at everything including the correct engine for the model?

Re: Emission Tomorrow!
I cannot understand why they are checking emissions on trucks this old. Are they using specifications from say 1971 if it is a 71 truck? Or do they have to meet todays specs?
I also am very happy my 71 F100 doesn't have to go through that mess. I don't have any inspection at all here in N.C. Not even a safety inspection.
Glad you passed.

Re: Emission Tomorrow!
Yep turn your carb down and go buy this producted called emissions at the parts store. It guarantees that it will pass or your money back. Run carb cleaner through two days before then the day before run emission stuff. This is what I do everytime and it works!

They don't have to meet todays specs because its just a sniff test to make sure its running clean.cdeal28078 wrote:I cannot understand why they are checking emissions on trucks this old. Are they using specifications from say 1971 if it is a 71 truck? Or do they have to meet todays specs?

Change the oil, filter, air cleaner, and make sure the pcv valve is working. Test, pass: goto end fail: Points, condenser, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Test, pass: goto end fail, you'll need to mess with the idle mixture screws.flakos 69 wrote:emission stuff to the tank? i'm on the same boat, tips to get my 69 to pass

Took me a few tires once, glad they did free retests.

Worst case, if the engine has too much blow-by you're in for a rebuild.

I don't have to worry about any of that stuff now.
