PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Sorry about your loss man. :(

Sorry to hear about the loss. They become family and its no different than losing a friend or relative. Don't even want to think about losing mine, I'll get emotional. :(

Austin,
Sorry for your loss, they truly are man's best friend IMO. I too like Clint would have gone crazy the past few months without my little Diamon' who is now about 8 months old. Your "new" dog Wilbur looks like he will be a real smart dog.

SoCalExile thanks man, I'd seen those "dog rules" but it's been awhile.

To me our dogs are a pretty accurate statement of who we really are inside our hearts.
They too have emotions that are directly tied into how we are feeling. Image

Glad she has a good home. Sounds like you have a new co-pilot. It took me over a year before I got a new riding buddy.

Your new girl is another beauty! Just like dog dog, you're gonna show that sweetie some great times and she'll show you gratitude with total devotion.

It's always a sad day when a family member passes on. I have had dogs and cats most of my life and I can't imagine life with a happy-go-lucky dog. The difficult part about having pets is that we out live them. We had to put one of our dogs down about four years ago, and I still miss her. She was a rescue and had four wonderful years with us. That left us with two dogs, both just as wonderful in their own ways.

Eventually another dog found his way to us. After several months of recovery, he too has become a happy-go-lucky member of the family.

Sorry for your loss. My best pal is a female Jack Russel Terrorist um I mean terrier. She is around 9 now. She got me through a lot of bad times and if I even allow myself to start thinking of what life would be without her I tear up and have to make myself think of other things. Scare me to think of her not with me.
Give yourself some time to grieve and find another dog. A man needs a dog and that's all there is too it.
A dog never gets mad at you. Never judges you. Never cheats on you. Never gives you the cold shoulder.

Dogs sure have a special place in our hearts, and when they leave there's an emptiness that just plain hurts. Been there a few times.

Nothing like a rescued dog. I rescued my Caseydog in November, 2000 (she was 4 months old) and she's been there for me ever since. She's getting up there in age and has slowed down a bit but her loyalty, devotion, affection, and love for me has never been greater. She's a Border Collie and Aussie mix and wicked smart!!! Congrats on your new friend!

Smile Casey!!!
