spent a little time in the country(update: photos and video)

Post by dolinick »

The past year has been kind of overwhelming and I have been neglecting my cabin project in the country. I have been hauling my horde of junk out there so the place is cluttered inside the cabin and out. I had to make room for my new wife and kids since I got married last may. I started organizing the junk piles. I got a brush pile and a small metal pile. I'll burn the brush and sell the metal eventually. I got the F750 started. It was out of gas and the battery was dead. I hauled two barrels of water for my new trees. They look like they are gonna be ok. Two are crepe myrtles. I also planted a Monterey Oak and a Cedar Elm last fall. My Montezuma Cypress is doing alright. It has been planted since the fall of 2007. And A couple of Texas Sages I planted last fall should be ok. I think they are fairly hearty and we got a little rain over the winter i think. I have a LOT of bluebonnet plants this year. A few have started blooming already! There are a few Indian Paintbrush along the highway and I photographed one when I was leaving. I still haven't finished the roof or the siding on my cabin but hopefully I will make some more progress on that soon.

Cool pic's! truck is looking good. Is that a low flying plane to the right of the cabin?

I attempted to put up my purple martin house. It's a little crooked. The last time I had it up in San Antonio the starlings took over. I was hoping the martins might have a better chance out there. I made it out of redwood.

Would love to see more pictures of the country side. especially once the Blue Bonnets are in bloom. I sure miss that country. Lived in Live Oak near Randolph a couple of years. Before that a couple in Austin.

I know what you mean.
I had my home for "unloved and abused Fords"
I used to buy and sell parts ,then it got to be buy and not get around to selling.
It wasn't until I got married that I realized the error of my ways.
I must admit the place looks A Lot better now.

I still have a small collection of "good stuff "but now it's parked behind some pine trees. :D

Thank God I'm not married. I'm not big on junk, I try to be fairly neat and organized, but old cars and trucks are important to have around as parts donors for the fleet still on the road!

More blue Bonnets were blooming when I was out there but they seem to need some water. I will probably check on them again this weekend.
