newest addition to the fleet..

Post by 1972hiboy »

Hey guys, I picked up this 72 ranger xlt camper special in Sacramento last Tuesday, looks to be in overall good shape. about 107k on the clock 390...looks to have been off the road for about ten years. It made the trip from Sac to Santa Cruz OK. We had stopped into a cattlemens restaurant and it had a hard time starting back up again, but we have since ironed that out. I wanted to post some pics. been doing alot of maintenance items to the truck since we've aquired it, oil change and filter, a good grease job, rebuilt the carburetor, full tune up, new vac advance diaphram, did some vacuum line re-routing that was incorrect. Anyways more to come but here she is, pretty original even the og philco still there and works, I got the truck for $900

Yeah, these days I try to limit myself to only buying vehicles that can get me home  Yeah I was happy to see it had a/c on it, but the compressor and a/c idler pulley are gone. Id like to find a new compressor and track down a idler pulley because Id like to ressurrect the a/c if I can. It seems to be complete minus the pump. the fan comes on and everything. Its hard to see in the pics but the truck is ungodly straight, overall very original just wiping the dust off.lol it was the picture of the interior that got me and a buddy in my superduty to do the three hour drive to go see it. He was originally asking 2k for it so the good ol' haggling skills came out 8)

That is a good looking truck especially for the amount of buck you had to put into it.

Excellent score! She looks clean and straight. And with a/c unit too? A/C working or not it's still a great deal.

Finally got the owner of the '67 Mercury M100 Ranger on a sober day and bought and got the title to it today. It still has 2 feet of snow around it and for $200 it is not a driver yet but it is a genuine Mercury, a little rust here and there, body lines are straight, 352, auto. 8) I'm sure the real surprises will show up when we get it all apart and scattered all over the shop but I will just keep telling myself that it is a Mercury and when the Queen Bee comes over to the shop and see what I just blew money on and she whups me up the side of the head I will just tell her, "but it's a Mercury!" She of course will be impressed and about as confused as a goat on astroturf but she does quilts, and I do trucks. So there. :help: Will keep in touch on how the restoration goes. :fr:
