I am currently getting all new brakes including master cylinder, replacing intake/exhaust manifold gaskets and hopefully rebuilding/replacing the carburetor. Maybe this is going to cost a little more than $400.00.

If I had $400 to spend I'd haul my wrecked 93 F150 supercab I got from my dad to the frame shop. IF I had to spend it on my 71 I'd get my seat covered.

$400? I'd go with shocks and bushings to get my front suspension up to par with the fresh rear suspension. Then I'd spend the rest on sandpaper and primer so I can swap hoods with the parts truck and start body work then my truck would be road ready for me just not finished .

FLATBEDFORD, why do you want to re-arch the springs? Some welding/spring shops up here won't do that anymore because it takes away from the spring integrity. What we do is place another leaf under the stack and get new U bolts made up. The spring shop should do that all for you. I did that to my Edsel rears and it looks as straight as it did new. 8)

I spent $400 on a truck today but it wasn't the Merc. A lifter was collapsing in the 345 I installed in my '64 International 1100A. The big problem was, I bought all 16 lifters from NAPA and if I would have bought them directly from International I could have saved $260. :nono:

The spring shop that I talked to said they would re-arch and add a leaf plus bushings and U-bolts for about $400. These guys have been around forever and said nothing about concerns about spring integrity.

Machine work for my 390 block for which I already have the rebuild kit. I also have an extra C6 and a new kit for it too! I'm looking to do a full powertrain swap this year sometime.
