Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
Yes that is neat, but I couldn't have it on my Bump. Once it disappeared I'd never be able to find it again.

Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
gm tried that on station wagon tailgates in the mid "70s
The window went up into the roof and the gate went under the rear floor.
it was neat when it worked but age wasn't very kind to them.

Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
Definitely pretty neat! Don't think I could do it to my bump though, I love the reassuring sound I get when I shut the door on the truck, and the nice "click" I get when I open the door
.

Really? That's pretty neat, any idea what station wagons they did it on by any chance?cep62 wrote:gm tried that on station wagon tailgates in the mid "70s

Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
Thanks for the video! I was entirely unaware that GM produced any station wagons with those neat disappearing tailgates/back-glasses let alone in that many vehicles. That's pretty ingenuitive for Chevy at leastmr_josh wrote:Early - mid '70s Caprices, Buicks, Oldses, etc.

*Edit:ingenuitive, not intuitive

Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
'Course, if that disappearing door had been around since the bump days, Phil, Ford wouldn't have needed to put that nice wood grained trim on your Ranger...
I wonder if that door would have a backup manual system in case the power went out...I had an old Chev wagon, and if that window motor went dead, that tailgate was NOT going to open...

Re: DISAPPEARING DOOR
Can you imagine how much rain and snow those doors will let into the car?
