True, but a short bed looks better, IMHO.

I bought my F100 in Phoenix. I'll never buy a truck in the Northeast again. A close friend from high school lives in Tempe now, and I go out to see him every other year or so. He had a Bump when we were in High School, and it was really rotted out. He found this truck for me, bought it, and shipped it east for me. The problem with this process is that nothing in Arizona has any paint or plastic left anymore, so I still need to strip and paint the entire truck to stop the rust from starting. This is a bigger task than I initially realized.

As for the F100 vs. F250, some of the F100's are very capable. My F100 is perfect for my needs: I use it to haul materials on Saturday, sweep it out and go cruising to the drive-in movies on Saturday night, maybe someday I'll tow a boat to go fishing on Sunday afternoons. During the week she stays in the garage and I drive my DD Focus, unless the Focus is out of service. It has higher GVW springs (1750lbs load in bed), T18 4-speed, 360V8, 3.50 gears, and an 8-foot bed. I've hauled stone, lumber, furniture, and towed my car on a trailer with it, no problem.
