converting to power disc brakes...

Post by 71 LONG BED »

If a conversion to power disc brakes from manual drum were to be performed on an F100, how much would all the necessary hardware cost? In other words, I have the complete set up to convert an F100 to power disc. I'm wondering what market value is in the event I decide to sell these parts. I have held onto these parts for years and I am realizing that I may never get that ever elusive, "Round To It". :(
I have the, Spindles, Rotors, Calipers, Proportioning valve, Booster (with the hard to find flair fittings), master cylinder, and all the bracketing. The dust shields are the only part to the conversion I don't have.
The master should be replaced with new, the old one can be used for the core charge.

There would be some variance in price due to locality and availabilty of parts/parts trucks. I see 197* dentsides on craigslist for $500.00 or less at least once a week. I'd say check out what local "parts trucks" are going for and base it on that. I wouldn't pay more than $150.00 for all the parts to do it. Someone else might pay more for the labor involved in you taking them off instead of them having to do it.

I personally wouldn't buy just the spindles removed. I would want the whole I-beam, tie-rod assembly and pitman arm.

If that amount is lower than you thought or you find offensive please don't be. Just my 2 cents.

150.00-200.00 since you have the booster too. 150.00 without the booster and brackets.

None taken, I got thick skin :D

I had the I-beams originally, but had them separated so I could put a fresh set of king pins in. Sure wish I listened to my father in-law and left them alone.

Hey John. I am thinking the same thing about all the disc brake stuff that I bought for my F350. I seems to stop OK as it is and have other stuff to do nowadays.
