Woo... Hoo.. Insert Dancing Guy Woo... Hoo..
Found out that there is light at the end of the tunnel for me and this deployment. This one has been the hardest one of all, and that is 60 months of time on the other side of the pond. I celebrated though with a purchase for the old truck! And I have my Dad taking the old girl down for a full check up from a good mechanic that he found in Eastern KY! That is amazing in itself finding an honest mechanic that does good work in eastern KY. He is going to re-do the shocks all the brake lines, and put the correct per-portion valve on it, so my back wheels will stop locking up on me. I have another question but I will put it in the correct forum! I can't wait to get started on the Old Girl, below is the gift for myself and the Old Truck!

Not home yet, but there was a glisten of hope on some information that I recieved so hopefully sooner than later, considering this was suppose to be a 6 month trip and I have been gone since August, except for a brief 2 week stop in the states!

I know deployments are not easy, especially with a war going on. Glad you are almost home. Sounds like you have a great Dad. Enjoy your bump. Thanks for your service.

Re: Woo... Hoo.. Insert Dancing Guy Woo... Hoo..
Spent about an hour on the phone with the Old Man tonight, discussing what needed to be done to the truck and picking out new shocks an such with him. You all don't need to thank me, most of you have done it more than a few times, but believe me you being appreciative is all that matters. As it has been said this site is by far the best class of people on the net! I am glad to be a part of it. And glad for the support, and outlet this site has provided. Heck when I deploy you all come along on all my many Soap Box sessions, about blah, blah, blah and such. That I thank you all for! Now back to the truck, (which I am just glad to start talking about again) should be in the shop at the beginning to middle of next week. Since I want to do most of the work myself the guy is just going to check it over real good for me, and replace the things that would cause problems on the trip from KY to FL. I would do all of that work myself, but I am going to only have a 4 day weekend to run up there and run back. I would like for it to be tight and right so I don't have to rush to badly when I get up there. The following weekend after that, the truck should be down to the frame, and should be prepped for the frame to get painted (or maybe even painted depending on how froggy I feel). I know I am super excited to start working on the old girl again, now that I am in a position to finish it.

Good to "see the light"!
Will be great to read a post about you being back home.
For the first time since WW-II, most of America "gets" the vital importance of what you are doing.
Saying "Thanks!" is a way for civilians and Vets to be a part of that. So I hope you don't get tired of hearing it!
What shocks are you going to have put on?
Frame off project will be a lot of fun!
Looking forward to the Project thread!

I am looking at the Rancho RS5000

Whith the RS5000 Stabalizer

The other ones that I was looking at are these Monroe Sensa-Trac

Monroe Magnum Steering Stabalizer

Anyone got any suggestions, keep in mind it is a 71 4x4 wit 72 frame and drive train with a 3 inch Skyjacker suspension lift (I believe it is a skyjacker).

I ended up going with Skyjacker shocks (same ones on the truck now), got all 4 and the 2 stabilizers for 200 dollars... Not a bad deal, but I also went scratch and dent rebate on them. I am going to paint them anyhow to match the springs in the truck so I think it will all be OK!

That was a smoking good deal!
I've had scratch and dent stuff that was as small as a ripped up box.
Probably find out that Sky Jacker has the shocks "private labeled" by a quality manufacturer.
There stuff has always been pretty darned good.

Update on the shocks!
My parents got them yesterday, opened them up and if there was a scratch or a dent they couldn't find a one. So going that route saved me about 180 dollars, and they came with the Red Boots which are like 7 dollars each!

Sorry for not looking in earlyer, I had a lifted 06 superduty that had rancho RS5000 shocks on it and love the way it felt, smooth ride without the lifted bounce. Had a rancho steering stablizer on it and with 35"x13" tires it drove better than most peoples cars with one finger on the wheel. I think youll be very happy with rancho. When i get my highboy back together im going to buy a set for it.
