1967
On my way to the cemetery this morning to turn off the water, I stopped by the Vets office for a while. Reason being I spotted a 67 Stepside Ford. Straight body, 3 on the tree, and a six. Had some surface rust, bit it made me drool. Guy said it was his Fathers, he passed years back. He went on to say that he doesn't like Fords. I asked if he would sell, but ho won't due to it having belonged to his dad. I told him about this site and offered him a card, but he refused it reminding me he don't like Fords. Wish I would have had the camera. Oh well at least he exchanged ph # with me and only lives 5 miles away. I would have almost traded the 68 CS for that truck. Almost.

Wont talk to other Ford guys about your ford or tell the old trucks story because he doesn't like Fords... Sounds like a bright one...

For someone who doesn't like Fords he sure was proud of his Dad's 67. It was his story, so I listened and let him tell it.

Even though I never liked Fords before, when I inherited my '70, I've come to love them like no other...

Well, I don't know that just seams like a bad attitude to not except a card, or want to go to a site that could help you out with the old truck because you don't like Ford's. I am not a Chevy lover, but you better believe if I had a questions about my 72 K5 blazer I would go to a site and talk about the truck! I mean I would have a photo of the Ford in my signature but would still go to the site. Just seams like a poor attitude IMO...

Re: 1967
It's interesting how our parents influence our vehicle brand preference. In my case, my Dad was a Ford guy until he bought a brand new '58 Ford. I was 8 years old at the time but remember him having problem after problem with it.
He dumped it in '59 and bought a used '57 Chevy from his Father in Law. From that point on, he was a Chevy guy. This formed my opinion along with the influence of most of my buddies that were Chevy guys too.
I was a Chevy guy in my youth until I found that Fords were better through listening, learning, comparing and experimenting. So it's funny how I "Converted" to being a Ford guy and my Dad stayed a Chevy guy until he died.
My point is even though his Dad was Ford guy and he's not, give him time, let him compare his Ford to a similar Chevy and I believe he'll see that there is a huge difference. He'll see why his Dad got the Ford in the first place.
The real proof is that he's still got the truck, still driving the truck, and won't sell the truck. That speaks volumes...

Re: 1967
True it does, maybe I am taking this out of context, but to be honest if I handed someone a Fordification card, because they where driving an old bump, and they refused it I believe I would take that as rude. I always found it funny when I would jump out of my blazer with a Ford hat on. People use to give me crap about driving the dependable one and blah blah blah. If someone where to come up and comment on the Blazer though and try to give me a resource for it, I wouldn't have said Nope I am a Ford guy... Again this is just my opinion other than that I am sure the guy was real nice!

I agree with you... that would be considered very rude in my book as well. I believe it just goes to show how deeply some prejudices run in people when they won't listen to any other point of view.ford4x4fun wrote:maybe I am taking this out of context, but to be honest if I handed someone a Fordification card, because they where driving an old bump, and they refused it I believe I would take that as rude.
We can only hope that life's experiences will soften his stance on his ridged belief system and he'll find the "truth" out on his own about Ford's superiority. Of course this is now my belief system, but I feel it's based on hard won experiences.

Re: 1967
Maybe I am bias in my beliefs I grew up in a Ford family, and haven't owned another chebby truck besides the Blazer. But all my Ford's have done me right, and they always put up with any abuse I gave them (within reason). I haven't had a reason to drive anything else so it could be my judgment is misplaced. All I know is I am not driving anything with a 350 4 Bolt Main, and I like being different!

...aren't we all! With any bias, it's always a good idea to keep an open mind so we never become to ridged in our belief system(s).ford4x4fun wrote:Maybe I am bias in my beliefs I grew up in a Ford family, and haven't owned another chebby truck besides the Blazer.
With whatever we believe to be "true" there will always be someone with an opposite point of view. Can we change them? Perhaps, but keep in mind that it's usually VERY difficult to change ourselves, let alone somebody else.
The true challenge in life is to be happy with ourselves, help others as they strive to become better people, and always question our own beliefs so we avoid be to ridged and more child-like in our appreciation of life and all that God has provided us with.
...somebody PLEASE kick the soapbox out from underneath me...

Re: 1967
My dad was a Ford man,he owned Fords from when he was a young man. Mom and Dad drove his 1923 T on their honeymoon, I came home from the hospital in his 1937 Ford sedan. Dad drove that old 37 almost 200,00 miles as WW2 was on and he couldn't get a new car. He bought a new 46 Plymouth and he said he had more trouble with it in the first two years then he ever had with the 37. Traded for a new 49 Ford and drove Fords till he past on in 1978. I have owned Fords and MoPars, but I'm a Ford man at heart. I have friends who drive Chevys and MoPars and we kid each other about our cars, but we respect each others ride.

I dont understand people like that, Will stand there and trade #s with you but acts like a card to a site thats about a truck his dad owned and hes driveing is contamanited. I would have walked away thinking how proud his dad must have been of him. People like that need to pull thier head out of thier donkey.
